So a couple of us here in TN got the itch to ride after a planned snowboarding set fell through. We scoped a spot and loaded up the gear and my four wheeler and headed to the lake. We found a nice spot for the wheeler. The only problem was there was ice from the shore line to 20 feet out. We figured a couple of pulls and the ice would be toast and it was clear sailing from there on out. Well Jama is up first....hits ice and falls, didnt break through the ice. Now it's Dentons turn. Makes it about 15 feet, runs up on ice slips out and breaks through the ice. We check out the ice and it's 2 or 3 inches thick...WOW, not good. Well Now I'm up. I get doing hit the ice 15 feet away and start sliding...make it about 15 more feet and slide out...I slide about 20 feet and stand up, this ice is NOT breaking. I walk on the ice to shore. I try again...Make it all the way across the ice and break through on the other side. Make it about 20 more feet run back up onto ice then I fall and break through. 6 inches of ice. We decided to call it a day.

Jama- Wetsuit top/boardshorts
Denton- full suit 3/2
Me-full suit 2/1 with broken rear zipper

All in all. We're waiting until march to ride again Confused

tasty lookin vid, but damn that is some thick stuff. it sounds like nobody got hurt Birthday

skatin the ice is no joke. devilishly enticing that ice

slush is where it's at though. u can cut and put up a big wall of slush, or throw it round on a big ol 3shuv. the falls are safer.

the ice has to crack, and it can crack u, but if you could stomp a big ol shuv somehow in the ice.... Shocked

i want it.

While we're on the topic of ice dancing................what about those guys surfing the ice waves up in alaska..........
Shocked

not me...u thought wakeskating was pretty core. chunks of ice fall off into the water. huge one's...and car sized ones put out a wave when they crash into the water. a jetskier tows u in after say a rather scary large slab of ice slips into the sea which generates a huge wave :
shock: Screamin down the face of this frozen giant shaped like teahupoo, the face of the wave is an icefield filled with fallen trees. given the circumstances i might not be up for that one, it'll make for a fine dream though
