Ok I have a 6.5HP engine that I got running before i built the Hillbilly Winch. But that engine is done and all we need for the winch to be done is an engine that runs.So i can get a 5.5 Briggs for way cheap from a friend and I hav a TAV should this be able to deep water start??

We had a mad ass 5 hp robin, ran real fast and had a smoothe ride and all, but no way could it do deep water starts, just not enof power really. And i dont think the extra .5hp and a TAV will help. Although i could be very very wrong :p

I've deepwater started w/ this winch and I'm 180ish lbs. It was definitely pushing the limits a bit, but yeah, it's possible.

It's all in the gearing, especially with a smaller engine like that. So play around with some different ratios until you find a happy combination. A TC will help, too.

And that first Rewind winch was 3hp. Thomas was able to get up and ride behind it, but I'm not sure if he deepwater started behind it.
