I have finally finished my first winch frame, let me know what ya think of it. I made it real low to the ground so that it can be placed in the trunk of a car etc, if needed. Just need to add some paint!
I will post up more pics as soon as i put the engine and spool on it.

looks good man.. because its so long though it has alot of leverage to tip... so make sure when winching you really stake down the back of the frame good to keep it from tipping onto the spool...
other than that give it a good paint and itll look sick _________________ PAVT since '05/'06 |

mxguy14, nice frame, one thing you might want to think about before you put your hitch reciever piece on is weight if thats no biggie for you then it looks like your ready to get it put together _________________ why dont you try playing hide and go Fvck yourself |

| Yeah i thought of it too, it will be heavy i understand that, but i wanted it to be really solid. So yeah, i figure with it all put together, including the 30 lb. tank spool i have, it will be about 130-150 lbs. However i have the plans already drawn up for wheels and handles to basically wheel it around similar to a wheel-barrow. Anyway, ill get some more pics soon to show ya what i mean, but thanks for the feedback. |

Thanks guys.
mattttt60... nah i have it right, you have to look closely in the first few pics of the motor on it. One side has the torque converter and the other has a small 10 tooth sprocket, it is really tiny and has a silver lock nut right beside it. But thanks for the heads up. Its a sweet design that i ripped off an old go-kart i had, really effective and provided massive amounts of torque compared to the engine size.
I Picked up some wheels for it and got the engine running good today, really stoked, cant wait to get it finished and test it! |

dalesk8, I picked up some of that amsteel from redden marine a while ago... 7/64-600 ft. Hopefully it will work well. I didnt have the funds to spend on an expensive rope so i went with this and it only cost me like $85.
Chrishau, Yeah definately take a look at some of the designs people have and make one, ive had alot of fun just designing and building mine, let alone actuallly using it. I am really lucky though...my uncle has good connections and is amazing at welding...so he hooked me up with all the metal for free and built my that solid spool. And i got all the parts a needed for christmas, so yeah, the only thing i did was design and assemble, oh wait....the engine and mounting plate i ripped off my old go-kart that i payed i think like $150 for...4 years ago! ahaha, so i think im doing well. anyway if you have any other questions on design etc....let me know, im happy to help if i can. |
