I am not going to disagree with anyone who has told you what they like about their boards. But if you are like me and get to ride less that 20 days a year this might be for you. Buy a used board, i would recomend foam core, only because of quality. Buy it used cuz it is cheap. Don't invest a lot in your first board, but get a board that was the cats meow when it came out 2 years ago. It will last a long time. Why do it this way is save your money for the board you want, but being a beginner you don't know what board you want yet, you will develop your taste as you start riding more. When you start riding you will probably end up riding with some other people who have skates and try theirs when you can. Once you have a season under your belt then upgrade. I bought a board that I thought was awesome when i started riding, now i got a new skate (LF aaron reed) and I love it, and progressed more this season even though I rode less than the last 3 seasons on my other skate. I would recomend a catalyst or byerly by hyperlite, now there are those on this form that will cry high treason for saying that. But you can get one for like $80 learn to ride it, regrip it if you want (that will cost like $15) at your local skate shop. Then get your integrity, new, oak, devtoid, LF, Byerly, or whatever board suits your fancy. For example don't spend $250 on a brand new catalyst to find out you would prefer a wood deck. Or spend the same on a wood deck to find out you would prefer a bi level. Buy a cheap board that will last a season to learn on, ride as many as you can, and then go buy the one you want
