I've found a damn good deal on a 07 Byerly Legacy 42. I was wondering if this would be a good skate for someone just starting out, as opposed to getting a flat deck and then having to upgrade.

itll work fine. You might not like it alot of people dont. I rode one for a couple mounths. Board floats unlike wood decks and u can actually stand on it and pretty much float on in the water lol. I thought it was a cool board. Grip tape can be gnar falling on it but u gottta playyyy to winn

wakeboarderdave, probably not but if you dont want to have to buy another skate as you progress you might as well get good on a high end skate...

wakeboarderdave, i owned a legacy for about 2 months i rode it and liked it at first , just like Dirty Cracker said it just floats on thw water and has a smooth ride, and grip tape is gnarly, but i wasn't a fan of the board and sold it.

The deal for the board is 130 shipped. I thought it was good since you can get a new one for 240.

i'd say go for it, thats a good price and if you dont like it you could probably sell it on ebay for more than that. personally i love the legacy.

thefunky31, its my board of choice from Byerly right now, but i've ridden it since its been out pretty much, although i rode an SST and a catalyst 2.0 for a while until i could get a 42" legacy. i've ridden like 10+ different skates over the past couple years though.

The 42 is a nice board. I found it easier to learn stuff that I couldn't learn so quickly on my Gator Pro Model. Goood cable boar, and good behind the boat as well. And with a little encouragement from Bret I am now riding the 39 and love it!

The bad thing about asking a question like this is that you will get mixed responses. It's all opinion. If it's a gread deal, buy it and if you don't like it, sell it.

NEW = $275
Byerly = $130
Boat needs trailer brakes and I'm in college. You do the math.

The problem here is I can't really justify buying this, I haven't rode anything in a year. We got our boat last summer and it needed stringer repair so I didn't get to ride at all, skate or strap. I have a Kampus K41 but only got to ride it like twice.

kejoz, legacy isnt really but it is a good board too as you progress, and mainly its all about how you feel on the board nothing will tell you more about the board then "you" on it.
