bobby211, I'm not sure of any website...but you could use the entire midwest being covered with ice storms as a current event. You might wanna talk to your teach first tho. some teachers love current events...some dont believe it's a valid arguement... _________________ 10101 |

The earth as a whole slowly goes through seasons...just like each year we pass through seasons. We're just getting into "spring"...about to hit "summer"'. Then people are really gonna freak and start "doing something" they it's slowly going to hit "fall" and we're going to think we did something to help...then "winter" comes and everyone turns into a canadian...Except that wont happen because it happens so slowly...The earth constantly changes... _________________ 10101 |

In order to understand global warming, you must first understand what causes global warming. Global warming is directly related to greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases are invisible gases that damage our atmosphere allowing for more radiation to pass through the atmosphere, warming our earth. These invisible gases are carbon dioxide and methane. These are naturally occurring components of our atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is essential for plant growth; however the concentrations of these gases are beyond natural levels, causing global warming. In 1997, an international agreement under the United Nations was created to reduce greenhouse gases in the developed countries of the world. Its goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions an average of 5.2% below 1990 levels by 2012. The Kyoto Protocol will affect the Canadian economy more than that of any other country and Alberta will suffer the most. It could cost Alberta over $8 billion and thousands of jobs per year. Every business and every individual in Canada would be negatively affected by higher prices, higher taxes and a devastated economy. Some reports suggest that 450,000 jobs would be lost in Alberta, income taxes would increase substantially, electricity costs could increase by 100%, natural gas prices could increase by 60% and gas will reach 1.30 per litre. You will likely pay more income taxes; worry about job security; pay more to drive your car, heat your home, and keep your appliances running – all without making an actual or significant reduction in global gas emissions. Some countries have chosen not to participate, 65% of all greenhouse gas emissions come from major producers that have chosen not to ratify the Protocol or who do not have emission reduction targets. They include China, India, Mexico and the Untied States. If the US complied with the Kyoto accord they would have to reduce their energy consumption by a 25% below the amount that would otherwise occur…reducing energy use in the United States by one-fourth would be to stop nearly all highway, rail, sea and air traffic permanently. It is the unrealistic levels of commitment that need to change in order for all countries to commit to the Kyoto Protocol.
If our global temperatures continue to increase it will cause sea level to rise, and is expected to increase the intensity of extreme weather events and to change the amount and pattern of precipitation. Other effects of global warming include changes in agricultural yields, glacier retreat and extinction of species. Global Warming also advances desertification. Desertification claims hundreds of miles each year and is irreversible. With all these factors our planet is drying out until one day there will be nothing left. _________________ ~ www.integrity-wake.com ~ www.iwinchglobal.com ~ |

Ok...So lets think. The earth rotates...as it rotates. each rotation is a day...365ish(leap year) days to rotate the sun. Each year(365 days) the earth goes through 4 seasons. Think of each rotation around the sun as a day. We dont rotate perfect around the sun. We're getting closer and farther over the course of the year. If each year our rotation is slower "off" of years and years we will fall farther away from the sun...cause colder winters and less warm summer. over more years be get closer overall to the sun. Causing more heat and the effects the come with it... _________________ 10101 |

GLOBAL WARMING IS DEFINITELY CAUSED BY HUMANS.
Mainly our power (coal), and cars produce abnormal amounts of carbon dioxide which are eating our atmosphere. In the past 10 years we are have been seeing unbelievable changes in our weather, due to global warming. Just this year it snowed in Texas! Hurricanes are becoming super storms that 10 years ago where not as nearly as strong as they are now. Look at pictures of the Arctic compared to now, it has substationally (sp?) shrunk. With the amount of ice melting around the world, it is just going to push up the sea level flooding low lying places. If greenland alone melts it would push the ocean up 3 feet!!
Al Gore's presentation on global warming on youtube.

price.dan, That was a joke...Around the time he was no elected for president He came out saying he invented the internet...Read my post 4 posts up and tell me if you think humans are causing this...Don't believe everything you read in the news...New's organizations are looking for money...this hinders their willings to tell the complete truth... _________________ 10101 |

Classy, oh haha. I don't believe every thing the new says...But when i'm getting facts from my professors who have sources proving their information it's kind of hard not to believe them.
I don't think it's so much that the earth is moving each year that is causing global warming yes its possible that it too is advancing the process but i don't think its one of the major factors. Think about how many vehicles are out there right now running putting carbon dioxide in our atmosphere and each day more and more trees are being cut down for commercial use. So less trees each day can go through photosynthesis (converting carbon dioxide to reusable air) and more cars are bought each day just adding too the already problem our environment faces. _________________ ~ www.integrity-wake.com ~ www.iwinchglobal.com ~ |

i advise you watch "the inconvenient truth" and then "the global warming swindle" so that you get both sides of the story and you can make a decision for yourself
i myself believe that global warming is just alot of hype like the ice age was when our parents were young |

price.dan, Professors(for me most part) can be trusted with nothing more than grading your papers. School (to me) is more about learning people skills. I see a professor thinks global warming is huge...so I need to write my paper accordingly. And my other pro is a feminist, well i better write accordingly. College is about learning how to adapt to the people you are forced into contact with...Not about your professors telling YOU how to view the world...Thats your job. _________________ 10101 |
