TAD, lol, i don't think ANYONE would argue with you about how much they get paid, it is outrageous. lol
but, if i was good enough at football, (or golf cause they make as much) i would dang sure do it, and accept every penny that they threw at me. _________________

TAD, I generally watch games with all of my roommates and a couple of friends will come over (we have a 10 ft projector screen in our living room, so people like to meet up at our place). On a typical Saturday (college football) or Sunday (NFL) we'll have 7 or 8 people over to watch OU (if it's an away game) or the Dallas Cowboys
I agree with you that a lot of players are over paid whiners... but for the most part, it's the owners who are worse than the players. In the NFL, if you are hurt before the season starts, you can be cut and you won't make your salary for that year, .... so unless you have already sponsorship deals or have already made a decent amount of money, you're s.o.l.
On the other hand, let's say you have a career year, put fans in the seats, and take your team to the playoffs. Well if you have a minimum contract, you aren't going to be making very much money, yet the owners of the team can be profiting hundreds of millions of dollars at your expense.
Look at Earl Campbell, that guy left it all out on the field every play, won the Heisman trophy and was an NFL MVP. Now he's in his mid 50s and is more immobile than my 85 year old grandparents. He has serious health problems that come directly from his playing days while the NFL continue to profit off him, he is hardly seeing anything in return especially in regards to what he gave to the league.
I definitely see your point though, watching A-Rod say that $30 million isn't enough, he needs $35 mil, on top of the ridiculous amount of sponsorships he has. At what point does he say enough is enough, and just play the game? |

uidzero, I hear you on Sundays, I can miss NFL games no prob, an hour of sportscenter is all I need to get my fix... missing an OU game though, that's pretty much out of the question... I've got season tickets (as do most students that I hang out with)
Besides, try living out here and getting people together to ride when the OU game is about to come on. Good luck with that my friend.
It's also getting too cold to ride here anyway. |

Exactly.
I agree with the point on the owners being selfish scumbags, too. That's why I directed my points to the Franchise(s) in a whole. Everyone that is a part of it. There's so much bulljive involved and little love for the sport.
I just hope I'll never have to pay 8 dollars for a beer at a wakeskate event. Hell, I think I've been to at least 2 or 3 at the projects that had free beer. |

senorbueno, i completely agree... im a college fan all the way and just watch sports center on sundays to catch up with NFL... i honestly love the sport... i grew up playing pick up games with the kids in the neighborhood... so much fun... football baseball whatever... i never miss a UF game and its exciting to see thousands of people stoked on it...
i also like monday night football but only cause its a good excuse to hang out with your bros and throw back a few brews... _________________ PAVT since '05/'06 |
