Andrew Masi, if i landed a double flip perfectly, i wouldn't be pumped.
DirtyCracker, pretty much.
I'm not talking about "your first one" type of thing, but like filming and stuff, i don't think something should be on film if it's not COMPLETELY perfect and done right... i could probably watch so many videos with all of you and just call out so many tricks (especially flip tricks) that just do not deserve to be in a video, it gives wakeskating a bad look to outsiders. so if any of you are filming or shooting photos, just do it right, do it perfect. so worth it.
I don't care how you ride at your house, do whatever you want. _________________

Just think of NaRC-P rider as like Aaron Reed in this thread. Highly intelligent, a very skilled wakeskater and someone who is devoted to making wakeskating what it needs to be.
He's mostly refering to industry folk, anyways. Those that are representing the sport on a large scale sometimes get LAZY and will put something sub par out just because they don't want to put the effort in to make it better. I have OCD, so I have a harder time letting myself put out sketchiness in videos and print, but I'm not calling anyone out. I'm probably guilty of it too, at some point.
Have fun wakeskating and take pride in your position as an ambassador to the world, for wakeskating. You know people that need wakeskating in their life, so give it to them. Do it right.

Not that once sentence "do it right when nobody's watching" stuff that you initially wrote. That initial post comes off as if it was in regard to what people do in their own backyard. Like...don't claim it to your friends when you get back in the boat until it's perfect. But you clear things up with this more recent post.
And I totally agree with what you're saying. _________________ facebook.com/TheLiquidPlayground

PIRATE, I was very disappointed by his lack of motivation to document a clean one. Personally I would NEVER have put that out the way it was, but at the same time I was stoked that he was excited about landing it. Pros still gotta have fun with it too, but...
As a professional, it should have been his responsibility to "do it right" before he "claimed it".

If you're a "professional," then I basically agree. You are a different kind of ambassador and have the potential to show people what's current on the high end of the art. but I can say for a fact that it's not just trick style that will win over a purist skateboarder...many that I've encountered have a problem with the medium itself, and that's kind of hard to correct. But you will never please everyone.
But as an ambassador (any kind of ambassador), you also need to know your audience. Not every rider is "core" and is all about doing a trick to ultimately land it perfectly. Some people just want to ride and learn, straight up, and not care about what some random dude has to say about their style. And some people really aren't about tricks--at all--but they love wakeskating and they just like being out on the water with their friends. The latter example was something I encountered this summer and it was enlightening, to say the least. Just to meet someone who loves wakeskating but just rides differently and approaches it from a less serious perspective. And just to clarify, they've also brought some of their friends to the water--bindingless--as well, and it didn't take the most polished video or the (ahem--I want to get this right) "dopest stee" to do that.
If you're all elitist to the wrong rider, you'll turn them off from what is a super fun art form. All I can say is lighten up. As an example, at this point I'm just psyched to see some of these tricks that were landed for the first time, because they're important steps in our history, and whether that be daniell lovett's stuff, thomas' first kickflip, or anything matt manzari threw this past year (and he's a good example because so many people were bent about that). And as more serious talent moves up the ranks, that will push the lazy riders to either step it up or step aside. But again, not everyone that steps on a wakeskate really gives a shizzle about that.
and maybe I'm taking this too seriously and really it's strictly the high end talent crowd, or the dudes that want to be paid to ride that's being addressed. but I said what I did because the example of "videos from people on this site" was used.
che blanc, it's funny you should compare narc-p to aaron, because he was the first dude to call out aaron on his first article... _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

Maybe it's a matter of perspective, but I'm quite sure that Dave was unsure of his message and asking for someone to clear it up, not calling him out. _________________ √ |

like Asterisk 2? Yeah thought so. Why did they even make that? That was a rhetorical question by the way. |

The Bug, No.
By all means that is not what I meant.
Justin Stephens is one of the most motivated, artistic souls I have come across in this industry. If you read the article in WBM about the making of Asterisk 2, it explains everything that went wrong. Sometimes there are circumtances, like a weeklong trip with 5 and a half days of thunderstorms and other mishaps that prevent the best outcome, but it was NOT the result of complacency. _________________ √ |

Think about the shlubs like me that have to drop $30 for each new vid. I completely agree with Narc's point. I don't want to see any stupid grab ass footage either. Schmaltz is the only person that makes the extraneous lifestyle footy look cool. Don't try it at home kids. |
