O.K first off, I don't think ANYONE is throwing waist high shovit's, unless your a midget.
I have no first hand experience with the gate, but the overall concensus is that it it's too short and the kick tails are to narrow, enough to pull your foot off on landings. And nothing is really being accomlished on it. At first I thought that Byerly's wake bluntslides were something that the gate had to offer, but I can now do them(4-track) and know two other people that can do them. And the lean backs that Brandon Thomas is doing is not ground breaking. I have yet to see or hear one person say that the gate is the real deal. The point to all this is to DEMO DEMO DEMO DEMO
Oh yeah I also hate compression molded wakeskates.
In my honest opinion you should look at all boards(except 484) before making your decision.
And finally do yourself a huge favor and wait till the Integrity's come out, these boards are going to change everything, again!

we will be recruiting in wakeshops nationwide. well be the ones with the bowl cuts, 1" x 1" mustashes, swatzikas on our shoulders, and our arms up at a 135° angle Laughing Gfunk, just get the byerly. i think the gates mostly for like specialty riding for manuals and like nosepresses on boxes. just get the byerly

Gate bought, fun times had, the fiznackling narrow-ness doesn't bother me since I can skate like no tomorrow on land. I must admit though I do like the board a lot and my friend who bought a cassette is going to get one for this weekend. So not to say any one company is good, it is all what you like to ride.

Josh, yeah the physics are different but it still gives you more leverage off the water. It's the same idea as adding kicktails, but instead of adding more weight they raised it. Yeah it's not as great as it's made out to be, but not as gimmicky as you think it is. Length is just personal preference anyways, and I've ridden one and its fine for me.

Don't use being 15 as an excuse to be 5'3 lol. I'm 15 and I'm 5'11, so no way I could pull off a waist high shoveit.
