I just saw an add for these boards in WB magazine. A carbon fiber board that weighs 3lbs. I'm not too sure about this, but what do you guys think?

Good...I really got worried when I saw that add in WB magazine. I'm glad I didn't see it in Alliance.

I think it would be a better product if they add Shawk's velcro footbed to it. LOL

Hey Guys,

I was referred to this site by a friend of mine. I do some testing,
photo, etc work for Wake Werx in Boulder , CO. I read through the
comments made here and I do agree that some of the quotes put up by
the advertising and web department do come across as pretty funny.
My favorite is still the "I have no desire to learn wakeskating
tricks, but I'd rather ride around on this than my wakeboard."
Apparently this came from a girlfriend who just liked to cruise around
with no bindings. Anyways, I wanted to step in and just give an idea
of what the guys over here have accomplished.

Wake Werx is a brand new company in the world of watersports, trying
to bring in their expertise in composites (these guys are composite
engineers not just a rider making a board in his back yard). And
what they've produced here is a first take at a composite wakeskate.
They went around and talked with local Colorado riders about what they
(the riders) thought needed improvement. The most overwhelming
answer was, "make my board lighter." What they came up with is a
board that is; very light, very balanced, handles very well, is easy
to ride, and looks very sharp! Some of you have said that 3lbs is
too light. When they called me and told me that they had made a 3lb
board, I thought the same thing. But until you actually hold one,
spin it around, and use it, you won't understand. It just feels
perfect. I personally like the feel of the pro model a bit better,
the extra weight feels more reassuring, but they have definitely
produced a very fine board. The price is out of reach of a lot of
us, but so are all things that are produced at this level.

In regards to the 45" board, that board is offered for adults (dads,
moms, etc.) who want to learn and need something that is easier to get
up on and control. And actually, the 45 is only 43 inches long and
43 is only about 41 inches long. The boards just have a tip and tail
that protrude a little longer than the main board, I think it's to
keep the edges safer in case you drop it.

If any of you are interested, I know they still are looking for
talented riders to hook up with free gear. Just send them an email.
They are really nice guys and are always willing to discuss ideas.

I'll pass along the comments made on this site and tell them to
adjust some of the wording on their site.

Thanks guys,
-Ryan

That's exactly what's wrong with it...it was made and designed by engineer's, not wakeskaters.

As one of the few Colorado riders, I was never approached for design input. In my opinion extremely light boards are very unpredictable underfoot.

I think carbon fiber could be utilized in the construction of bi-levels to improve durability and reduce weight. At the same time I don't believe anyone wants to see a $400 price tag.

As far as Wake Werx producing the "first take at a composite wakeskate," replace composite with carbon fiber. I think everyone on here is familiar with the first composite wakeskates.

Myself and others have used carbon in prototypes / production years ago, carbon tends to be too rigid and is better used for a re-inforcement and not for capping or the replacement of other composites.

Skateboards flex... So should your wakeskate.

These guys need to start talking to some real wakeskaters or take their ideas to the wakesurfing market where their ideas might be a little more embraced.

RyanW, i'm not really skilled, but i would love a free board, and since my current board is homemade i would probably love this board.

so send me free stuff and i'll say i love it Smash

i pretty much want one because carbon fiber (like i've said before) makes me cream my pants Smash
