yea those little pre kick things or whatever look pretty cool. but one thing that I thought of is that b/c integrity does it, everyone will think its cool or revolutionary, but if it was hype that came out with that it would just be a gimmick. Don't get me wrong not sayin its a gimmick or anything, just thought about that _________________ ow thats gonna hurt tomorrow |

If people don't understand the reasoning behind the technology, they'll call "hoax" on any company's design--not just hype's. I don't know if you remember this, but at first people didn't understand the 4trac fin config. and people thought it was malarky. And then this year there was some talk about the asyms.
People give hype crap because their decks are too light and the gate...isn't all that groundbreaking. If mondo kicktails are the way to go then why do they need to shrink them down on this year's model.
If people don't understand the pre-kicks in the integrity, they might talk some poop, but as always, they'll just need some time to understand it. I think they're an interesting idea and it would take a test drive to really get it. But since wakeskates are longer than skateboards, it makes sense to have those little bumps further in so you can use them for maneuverablility and such. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

yea, but i just think that there will be very little "poop" talked about the integritys cuz its smatlz and he has so much respect in this business (and as far as I can tell rightfully so), and your right there was some arguments over the whole cassette stuff but not near as much as over the kicktails, and i do think that the kicktails ended up bein somehwat of a gimmick but i still say they are gonna get crap for everything they do just b/c they aren't a wakeskate only company _________________ ow thats gonna hurt tomorrow |

I don't think it has to do with being wakeskate only, it has to do with who they are period. And I'm not trying to be argumentative here (only discussing) but did hype catch any flack for having their first wooden concave? I know of people on here that hate that company, but still bought that first wood deck. And that's not supposed to be an argument for "wood is right," but it's interesting that it turned out that way.
Yeah, that company has caught some poop in the past, but you have to look at their track record: foam covered fluids for two years, and then a giant, foam bananna they called a wakeskate. Their boards weren't even size appropriate. As a wise man once said, "they were the first to put a kicktail on a wakeboard." Sometimes you wonder...
Honestly, if people question cassette, then they'll question integrity. And it's good to wonder, but it's not always necessary to cry out "hoax." Or that's my take on the situation. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

All Integrity decks will come with Jessups grip tape (unattached) so you can customize your grip how you see fit ... the di-cut is in 2 pieces for easy attachment and fits in the concave. In the next month or so we will be experimenting with some other type of soft grip system. Once we find something that works well then that option will be available also. |

I'm not quite sure what you mean russian. But their first wooden concaves came out about two years ago...like 2001. Grubb's deck had that weird face that appears as though it was done by the same artist that made danny's "premier" graphic. And then byerly had that flag and then he had a sillouette (sp--I don't feel like looking it up) of him holding his children's hands or something. I think the main complaint was due to the shape (the ends were narrow). But people didn't really question it or anything. And what's more ridiculous, one shop I visited was like "yeah, well, hyperlite has the best skates on the market" so they only carried hype. (that year...now they have obrien wakeskates. yeah, exactly.) But that's because they have their noses stuck so far up hypes butt they didn't even care about any other wakeskates.
Where was I? Oh yeah, from what I recall, the only deck they really didn't catch crap from was that wooden deck. If the foam ones were a bit heavier and had wider ends, maybe more people would be happier with them. But you know, you can't change who you are...
One other interpretation would be that you thought I was implying they made the first wooden concave. In which case, I said "their first wooden concave." I hope that clears things up...

Malarky... I love it.
I actually own one of those first wood hype skates. It was a chistmas present. F*cking hate the thing.
It's actually one of the reasons I don't like Hype stuff. It started falling apart from the first time I dipped it in water, and they refused to warranty it.
I also dislike the shape of the concave, as well as the foam grip.
It was a valient effort, and it brought them into line with reality, instead having them think they could get away with sticking foam on top of wakeboards, but for my mind, it was pretty badly flawed.
Anyway, thats just me.
Peace. _________________

Erich, I was wondering if you're doing anything different with your Jessup griptape to keep it from seperating from the decks. I've had many problems with the grip coming off of other decks. I have had to epoxy the edges down almost daily and regrip the entire deck every couple weeks. _________________ .:Wake UP Films:.

Jessup's is the shizzle... it's the best grip available.
I've never had a problem with it coming off or wearing down and i've never seen anyone else with that problem who has used it. Sometimes with wood decks there will be adhesive problems since wood breaks down (expands and contracts) when exposed to sun and water or kept in a damp place for prolonged periods. Usualy the uhathane coating most brands spray on to protect the deck bonds to the grip and tears from the wood.
Chris14, Is your grip still sticky or is there a slight film on the sticky side of the grip and is your deck made out of wood ? ... |
