xboard32x, neither a helmet or vest are going to save you from a broken ankle. Also, if you look at the pic, you'll see he is wearing a helmet, and I don't see any reason for a vest since he's riding in a ditch that's a few feet deep at most.

I can understand people chastizing riders for not wearing vests while riding in deep water; that's just reckless. But when people are in 3 feet of water hitting an obstacle, I don't expect them to wear a vest; it's not going to do them any good.

Also, helmets on water are pretty retarded. In the water, the only thing around hard enough to do damage to your head is the obstacle itself, and unless you're hitting something really big, the chances of that happening are practically nil. When was the last time you saw someone on a skateboard hit their head on the rail or ledge they were trying to hit?

sk84life, I think xboard32x, ment MY pic on page 1, not erikn pic on page 2...... I think a vest would protect more than just your skin, especially when there's gravel besides the rail, and we were fortunate not to fall on it.

No, your foot landed on it. Laughing You didn't slam right into the gravel with your upper body if I'm not mistaken... Afro

sk84life, Really a vest or a helmet wouldnt help an ankle injury? Man I swear it would have. No sh*t i realize that. If he hit his head on the rail/gravel the situation could have been alot worse. When you drive most people put a seatbelt on. Do you get in a crash everytime you drive....nope....do you hit your head on a rail everytime you ride....you never plan on smashing your head. Like I said earlier in this thread I wasnt preaching but i guess this was.

Another difference regarding the injury factor between wakeskating and skateboarding is the speed you have when you approach the rail/rail. Some of my friends, who are pretty good skateboarders, said they never would hit something at the speed were going when we hit stuff...
