…..no it doesn’t!!!!! FuelTV is the best channel on Television, and I love it more than most things in life.

But I will tell you what I HATE WITH A PASSION about FuelTV is when Insane Cinema SLAUGHTERS classic films by dubbing crappy “what new and hip” s.h.i.t music over the original soundtrack of films.

Anyone who’s made a movie knows the time an effort it takes to get a good soundtrack, secure the rights, and edit accordingly. GOD DAMMIT…it is ghey when they dub over the original soundtrack.

Call me crazy, but I say that Insane Cinema is insane for destroying the simulacra, and thus, destroying art.

But……you wanna know what doesn’t suck? My Morning Jacket with the Boston Pops.

I thought the whole point of them putting different music on there was because the music originally used in the movie was either unlicensed, or licensed only for use on the dvd. A band is gonna want more money if they find out that their music is gonna be on TV, so when these classic films go to re-license the music for TV usage, they might find that it's too costly. Soooooo FUEL just puts some licensed stuff over the video so they can put it on the boob tube. I wouldn't blame FUEL for this one.

Negatorium....

Fuel Tv recently aired True Life and destroyed the sound track, and I know for a fact the Mack Dawk secures the rights for all music used in his films.

Securing music rights for DVD useage is different than securing them for TV use. Now if he secured the rights to use the music on TV and FUEL then stripped it then yes, totally and completely crap.

That said, FUEL aired Lost in Transition with the original music. That's just off the top of my head...I don't mean to start any kind of argument here.

We live in America. Arguments are good.

Alright….I will admit that securing music rights for DVD is easier than for Television, but I still blame FuelTV for destroying the integrity of the original work by dubbing sub-standard music over the original.

Personally, I would much rather watch the original in its true form than some fabricated version on T.V.

Here is the crux of the argument … Insane Cinema is in the business of simulating the simulacra; replicating art with substandared imitations.

Art is destroyed by imitation, and the only thing worse than destroying art is destroying it to generate ad revenue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wait……

I can watch the original right now on YouTube free of cost and free of advertisements, but yet……I am expected to watch a BS version of the original on FuelTV and sit through advertisements????????????

God bless the Internet, and God Bless artistic freedom of choice…

This situation has been on my mind from the first day I saw Insane Cinema! So after consulting with one of the guys at work that handles all our music licenses and stuff, I can officially say that Fuel TV is the one that changes the music. I had always questioned who actually changes the music because some of the videos seem to be edited a little differently too and thought the director/editors were responsible for that (and the horrible music). Lets use the Truth for an example. Liquid Force Films pays for the performing rights for the dvd rfelease. When it is picked up by a tv station (Fuel TV), THEY then become responsible for paying the performance rights to the artists. Now, I can totally see why they don't use the original music (the bands are usually pretty big, popular, and even the one time rights can cost an arm and a leg- let alone when it repeats over and over again). Fuel TV would be broke as a joke if they didn't change the songs, BUT it can totally kill the movie and they pick some crappy music sometimes. The only real way around this would be to use no name bands in the original movie so that it wouldn't cost as much to retain the same exact music. Which might not be a bad idea anyways...
