I know that's a really subjective name but... Any other fans out there? And I'm talking about stuff too hard to be heard on the radio, so hard that you feel a rush and the urge to bang your head and tweak some neck muscles, so hard that people think you are a demonic psycho if they hear it themselves..
A few of my picks... The Agony Scene, The Blood Brothers, Killswitch Engage, Norma Jean, Dani Filth (Cradle of Filth), (old)Underoath, and Zao.
I doubt the dudes I ride with would ever let me play this stuff in the boat

Misura... hard, fast, chuga chug breakdowns, angst and straind vocals, lyrics are just plain raw ... and it's hard to find.
Fate 13... sXe.
Throwdown... one of my all time favorite sXe.
108... Krishna Core.
Blood brothers reminds me of old I Spy.
What Zao all about el ?

Their vocals are like a growling hiss. They tend to be a little more calculated than thrash most of the time. A lot of metaphorical lyrics and storytelling. They've been around for little while and there is quite a variety in their sound from record to record, but they seem to improve each time.
Here's this little hype-up..

if that weirds you out try a bunch of hari krishna's in robs and beads making that same heavy sound singing about krishna conscience, vegan, straight edge lifestyle... they have songs about destroying your soul over eating a piece of meat. it's rad...

I am not sure if you guys are down with this stuff, it is more emo-core than hardcore. I listen to Thrice, From Autumn to Ashes, Funeral for a Friend, Static Lullaby. All good stuff but a lot more mellow than the bands you guys were talking about, might be a little out of your league but I thought I would throw it out there.

Yeah, Norma Jean is very much a christian band, as is Underoath and Zao. Including spiritual beliefs in music has never really bothered me. The funny thing is that Zao takes crap from christians who say they're not christian enough (read the lyrics from the last few records, they've toned it way down) and non-christians who don't like they are christian. To each their own I guess. Cheers!

"Krishna consciousness is meant to be a joyful process, and in our lives joy is expressed through culture. Spiritual life should include the perfection of beauty in musical, visual, and literary arts. Devotees aspire to come closer to transcendence by coming to the platform of goodness first. Arts in the mode of goodness should be pleasing to the ear, the eye, the tongue, and the other senses. They should satisfy the senses in such a way that the devotee learns to look for true beauty in spiritual life rather than material life."

Beloved... I hear the name thrown around every once in a while, I shall check them out.
There's a new (legal) mp3 of a song from Zao's next record I thought I would put up. A quote from the ferret records website:
What if God decided humanity has rejected him so completely that He just... disappeared? What would become of mankind if God chose to "die," to "go to sleep forever"? That's the idea explored with gut-wrenching detail on the mind-bendingly cinematic and horrifically apocalyptic concept album from Zao, "The Funeral of God."
Here's the mp3... http://www.ferretstyle.com/core/tracks/322-8c9c36a33b1182d6177403520b72b884.mp3

didn't i say that once in a thread....fast and furious wings look like poop...the whole "street racer" scene is bunk they are stupid.....they ruined that VW jetta by rice'ing it out. I hate hollywood....make a movie based off of something other then trend and whats hot at the moment...make more movies on music, like spinal tap
