building a winch. I need one, but I have no clue about engine work or whatever is involved. I wouldnt know where to start.

creation, then buy one...if you dont have a clue about engines or building stuff i dont see how any instructions will keep you from f'in it up.

theres some dude on this site who says he sells them....loook for a thread on winches and some guy mentions in it that he builds and sells them....i am too lazy to look sorry

if u have a bit of knowbledge then u can buy an engine and make your own spool then u need to have a base plate , that u mount your engine to , ull need a santriffical cluth and u have to make sure u have the correct gear ratios, u then need a chain then u could weld a frame type of thing mount the engine and build the spool , i would suggest that you just draw up some plans and find a local welder , let me tell you though it will quite expensive

Okay. If you don't know anything about welding, gear ratio systems, woodwork Smash (just kidding), engine mechanics, or anything else involved, it is in your best interest that you do not attempt to make a winch. It is for your safety that you don't. I suggest you invest in purchasing one from the people that KNOW what they are doing and have invested a significant amount of time and money into R&D.
