I don't know who should be selected....but i think that all of us in the forum should be able to decide. People on this site are more connected to the scene than anyone else, so...why not? _________________ Back Again For The First Time

this is my understanding of the way the new system works...
there will be qualifying before each event for the riders that qualified for the pro tour. if any of these "protected" riders dont get their application/money into the tournament people on time, one spot will open up for a new competitor. if you want to compete in some of the other events, send in an application and hope that the protected riders get lazy and dont sent their stuff in on time. if they dont meet the deadline, a new rider will be selected from the waiting list, which is first come, first served, so get your money in asap so you can be at the top of the list. if you dont ride, your money will be returned to you so you really dont have much to lose. again, im not 100% sure what the rules are, but this is my understanding of what Bill J posted awhile back when the new system was announced.
vance, im sure there ARE quite a few people that are qualified to ride, the thing is you have to limit the amount of riders somehow, and i think they figured out a pretty good way.
Phibius, adding 5 open spots would be cool, but there will still be qualified riders who cant ride in the event. if you open it up to an online poll, it will turn into a popularity contest, and we all know joshua steele will win |

| Scott, you summed it up correctly as I understand it. The list of riders that are "qualified" should be posted soon. Yes the new system is controversial but this event was a graphic example of why it is needed. There were 140 riders on Friday in Jr Men and Pro Men classes (60 Jr Men, 80 Pro Men)! Add wakeskating and women to the mix and there's just no way to hold a contest that is fair to that many people and can still be held in a reasonable and affordable way. |

| Where the trouble starts is....there is no ameteur contest to prove that you are better than the average joe of wakeskating. You have to compete against pros and like rukus not make the cut when he should have made the cut. |
