So I finished my winch!! I had a friend build the frame, and he's doesn't make the purtiest welds, but you could drop this bad-boy off a cliff and it would likely be rollin' good. I took it out for the first time this weekend, and it rocks the lamas ass! Deep water starts, no problem. Dock starts, piece of cake. Speed, bueno! I love my winch, even if it is a bit of an eye-sore to some... fat girls need lovin' too Very Happy
7 HP Briggs generic motor.
TAV 2
#35 chain
60 tooth Sprocket
8 inch inner diameter, 15 inch outer diameter
600' bullet line
The rest is obvious.
I had what would have been some great footage at my buddies farm pond this past weekend, but someone droped my camera (apparently before we began shooting) and all credible footage has a bunch of voids (lines) through it Crying or Very sad Hey, there's always tomorrow...

Having a perfectly powdercoated and shiny looking winch is the equivalent to cruising around with a perfectly shiny and unscathed trailer ball on your truck- they just aren't meant to be. They're utilitarian, and as such will always appear as a gritty and weathered piece of equipment. Aint nothin' wrong with this!

I'd say all in all about $650-$700, plus a ass-load of time. I went through a lot of trial and error, and eventually had to backburner the project ( I was run over by a 40,000 pound Kansas City Metro Bus in March; drunken' skateboarding) and just now can ride again. After being bed-ridden for almost 2 months and only back on my feet for a month and a half or so, I was really motivated to get her going. I've been wanting to ride again all year, my accident was exactly one week before the cable park here was to open, and that killed me. But, the doc's saved my leg (miracle) I pressed on, and now things are starting to look on the up and up again. Thank God.
P.S. The bullet line was almost $200 in itself. Add the motor and TAV and I really did the rest super cheap. Very Happy

WAKEMan1, It should, but I really wanted to show it off, and I know that most people on this forum only come here to the general section... I will move it to the winch section soon.

t-Rex, I was skating down a busy street around midnight, and rode into a crosswalk without looking both ways. I ended up hitting the front right of a hug metro bus. I hit the bus. When I hit, I fell right leg first under the bus where you would normally climb in, and the front of the bus ran over my leg. It crushed both bones and damage all the tissue. The doc's had to slice both sides of my leg open to avoid amputation. The swelling was that bad. I spend 11 and half days in the hospital and had to have three surgeries. I was lucky not to lose my leg. In case you are wondering, I cannot sue, it was my fault supposedly. Smash
