I just started wakeboarding like yesterday and i can get up and everything but that is about it. I just saw someone wakeskating yesterday and i thought it looked awesome. Anyways my question is, is it easier to wakeboard or wakeskate? Ive never really skateboarded besides doing a crappy ollie if that makes a difference. Thanks for any advice.

Try it and tell us. I find skating easier but ive been doing non stop. So w.e wakeboarding probably is easier but wakeskating is better, more fun, and just a better sport:p

as a beginner, they're both going to feel challenging because you need to find your balance and get used to the feeling. I think for me, wakeboarding gave me a good foundation for wakeskating...but if you want to be good at either boardsport and actually learn tricks, you'll need to put in the time. I would say that you need to be more "on" when you're riding a wakeskate, since you're unattached. Obviously, that makes things a bit more technical.

I've progressed way more on my wakeskate than I did on my wakeboard, but I also skateboard and I think that crosses over better than anything I could have ever done for wakeboarding. So even when I can't wakeskate, I'm still riding something that helps me see a trick in my mind, and picture how the board will rotate. tricks aren't exactly the same, but they lay the foundation, for sure. On top of that, my air sense sucked...whenever I went upside down I really didn't have a good feeling for where I was at.

But if you want to test it, just take your bindings off of your board and see if you can get up and carve around like that. At least it will give you some sensation for what it would be like to ride around on a board unattached...but it's a lot more fun to ride an actual wakeskate.

Wakeskating is twice as fun as wakeboarding. No bindings gives you a feeling of freedom and adds to the fun.

wakeskates tend to ride much looser than wakeboards, even with fins. I would learn how to ride strapped in before you jump on the skate.

well put

Don't waste your time on a wakeboard, it doesn't compare.

The thing that makes wakeskating easier to me is being able to put your feet in a comfortable position and just jumping off when you wipe out. The falls are hilarious on a skate. When your done or when you start you just hop out , you don't have to fool with those damn strappers.

i'd say wakeboard at least until you can w2w heelside... even then when you first get up on the wakeskate it will feel very slickery

but i like both so i don't know what to say about you never go back and stuff
