I've been wakeboarding for about three years now and I skateboarded for almost four years. I've always been dissapointed that I don't have a wakeboarding boat or the money to afford one. So the other day I went to a water sports store and walked out with a Hyperlite Catalyst 112. I put on an old pair of skateboarding shoes and jumped in with it behind my Playcraft deck boat (not my choice boat, but I just kinda ended up with it). I didn't get up my first try, but the second was a success. After riding around a little while, I took the fins off and started doing surface 180's, 360's, and butterslides. I tried the ollie, but it didn't really work out that well for me. I used the boat wake like I would if I were wakeboarding, and I got off the water a little bit. I felt that it was a pretty good day for it being my first time. I went back out today and I finally figured out the ollie (not quiet so much like a skateboard ollie as I had anticipated) and I also landed a 180 after having a couple falls that didn't feel too great on the shins. I tried a shuv it, but never landed one. Point of the unnecessarily long story is that wakeskating is a fun sport, and I want to try to get better to where I could at least ride with some of the better local riders.

I plan on riding behind my Yamaha 110VX Deluxe when I get the chance because I would think that it should be a better ride, but I was going to ask what speeds some of you guys would suggest, rope length, and anything else I should know that would give me the best possible ride. I was going about 18 mph and riding at 55 ft.

Yeah, I could ollie at 18 no problem. I usually go about 25 when I wakeboard, but I didn't feel comfortable going that fast on the wakeskate.
