Just got it in the mail and Scott Byerly is on the cover doing a kickflip! Shouldn't there be, oh I don't know, a WAKEBOARDER on the cover?Laughing
Just though it was funny.

More and more wakeskaters are making the pages/covers of these mags.....because wakeskating has much more style.

And the tats don't hurt either. Wink

they've been putting wakeskaters on the cover since 01. ( also 2002, mr. horrell, sick mizell front board, 02 concave, need I say more?) And grubb had the very first cover of alliance wakeboard. Cool

but i'm looking forward to this one. the cover sounds hot and matt has that double flip, wake to wake.

I just started subscribing about 6 months ago. Its just funny to me that wakeskaters are trying to separate themselves from wakeboarders and yet wakeboarders don't want to let them go!
I didn't realize this is a somewhat common occurrence.

wakeboarding's presence has definitely helped wakeskating grow, and I think most people realize that. Even today you still get wakeboarders that cross over to wakeskating, much like you still get downhill skiers crossing over to snowboarding (and it can always work in the opposite direction as well). And what kind of audience was at the toe jam stop in texas? (I'm basing that on a grubb blurb I read somewhere.) Realistically, wakeskating still has a long way to go when it comes to growth.

And I think the "need to separate ourselves" thing is a bit archaic. That was a big deal a few years ago, but I think most people realize that wakeboarding and wakeskating are two separate things (within the same industry) and each are cool in their own way. Is it bad to see wakeskating in alliance, WBM or The Standerd? I think not! And for me, joey and josh are easy examples because they both wakeskate and they're still totally down for wakeboarding, too. (of course, that's not to say that anyone else out there is not...but josh hit that adrift thing. Cool) Eventually, wakeskating will have more "specific" projects working in its favor, but it already has that online alliance project, wakeskate life, volume (and more videos in general), specific sites started by riders, etc. Let's just say it's looking up...the industry just needs to be able to support itself and those projects. And style wise, riding a board is so common among today's youth...snowboarding, skating, wakeboarding, wakeskating--what's important is the mindset and not just the board you ride. (or that's how I see it. just because you rode/ride a wakeboard, doesn't mean you'll have some wack style on a wakeskate or some "tainted" background. and there are wakeskaters with a skate background that still can't do all of the heavy skate oriented flip tricks.) Plus, It's not uncommon for a wakeboarder and a wakeskater to be in the same boat...we all share that same water...

but no, I was thinking on my bike ride today, and I think byerly might have had the first wakeskating cover of WBM back in 01 (I think). he was riding one of those hyperlite banana boards and it was that incline to john-boat-jib. Take a look at "beg, borrow and steal." WHAMMY! That board is freaking all up in that joint...

oh, and that abstract grubb cover is still bad to the bone in my book!

man you guys always make me type so much. Wink

thanks for reminding me!! Man, if someone fails at life, it's me. (but I make a mean guacamole, and I'm not even kidding about that.) No, I will pull the designs and e-mail them to ed tonight, and I think we'll narrow them from there and let all'a'yalls decide.

and that's a promise!!

starting...

...now!

Yeah, myles had one of the earlier covers of alliance. I can't remember the year, but I think it was earlier than 03 because those blue 3-Ds were prototypes for the 02 line. So I'd guess late 01 or early 02. it was hawter than hawt!!

Some day edrex, some day...and my guac will FLOOR you! It's not guacamole anymore..it's guac-amazing. So I believe THIS is in order Exclamation
