I'd like to know if the hampson and reed models for next year will use this new style of bi-level? _________________

Silas first conceptualized the deck in 2004. Maybe I'm not seeing the whole picture here, it just seemed like Thomas Horrell and Cassette Wakeskates conceived the first bi-level wakeskate. If Silas wants to claim it a dual level deck so be it, but at least pay the piper some respect. _________________ dbanana wrote:

Ok, we should not really get into who's biting who's style here. Bi-level snow skates were around before the bi-levels. It is not entirely unreasonable to think that two people could build a very generic concept. Thomas may have been the first to bring it to the wakeskate market, but he was not the inventor of the bi-level idea. _________________ The aforementioned postings and musings are the opinions of myself in their entirety and are not the opinions of wakeskating.com

ITS TOTALLY A BI-LEVEL. Sorry but I agree withRaven, this is definitely a play off a cassette. LF doesn't want to deal with the broken top deck issue so they used something different. Good that Silas came out with a bi-level. Give respect to its inventor!
BI-LEVELS ARENT DEFINED BY WETHER OR NOT THEY HAVE A WOOD TOP DECK!

I was waiting for someone to say something to this effect.
I wouldn't jump to any conclusions. Unless you know what Silas and Thomas were up to back when they both first thought up the idea, I wouldn't start claiming anything.
I realize you love your Cassette, but honestly, leave it be. _________________ facebook.com/TheLiquidPlayground

I'm currently designing a double-level board. Please don't confuse it with a bi-level or dual-level deck. Its much, much different.
So, I'll bite. What is the difference between the bi- and the dual-? _________________

My issue is claiming it's not a bi-level. OK, LF wants it called an Dual deck, fine..... they can print that in all their print stuff...in the end EVERYONE will call it a bi-level or LOL when they say "Nah dude its a dual deck." _________________

edrex, it's semantics, really. I elected to refer to the SST as a "dual level" deck in the article because the term "bi-level" has come to mean a deck that is laid out like the Cassette/Gator/Devotid. LF's iteration of a two-tiered skate is different, so I wanted to use a word that wouldn't make people think of a Cassette knock off, which it isn't. _________________ facebook.com/TheLiquidPlayground

So is it that the connection between the 2 decks is different, or just that the materials used are different? _________________

edrex- both are different.
side view.
cassette: attached in only the two "truck" locations.
-----------------------------
LF: attached through the middle of the deck in a half dozen places, with the only separation being in the kicktails.

annapoliswskate, if it was actually a Bi level I would call it one but its not..... Cassette and GB skates are actually two boards that are clearly seperated some what like a snow skate... the SST is clearly nothing close to what the Cassette design was, other than the fact that the tech behind the tip and tail function of leverage...
Silas deserves all the props for desiging a wicked looking product...... In my eyes I hold him up to Thomas in the sence that they both though of new ideas of how to make the perfect wakeskate.....
btw, I agree with Dragon88 the snowskate was around for a long time before any wakeskate bi level was created.... props to Thomas for brining the product to wakeskating but its not like he though of the whole idea.... |

| I always thought the bi-level looked impractical and not the cool on the water or rails. Everyone is going to to disagree but that's just my opinion. Now this is on the other hand....this thing could look freaking sweet! |
