Most people will tell you 3-stage. I liken it to camera's. You have point and shoot, that's your continuous. Then you have your 3-stage, thats your automatic SLR. But then, there's five stage, it's hard at first, but once you get it down it has the most control. Five stage is like the manual SLR. All in all, it's all personal preference and opinion. Demo some boards, and talk to people who ride both (like you are on this thread). You'll make the right choice.

5-Stage Haters, Well you can't deny that some people kill it on 5 stages. Drew D., Pete Ward... The Omen team altogether... Oury's been improving like CRAZY since he got with Devotid and started skating 5-stages. Not that these people couldn't kill it just as much on a 3-stage... but i don't think they'd be skating 5-stages if they were a gimmick. It's definitely a preference thing and obviously 5-stages are not for you guys. That doesn't mean they are terrible altogether though.
