I just repainted an old hyperlite scape and was wondering if puting a few layers of clear coat spray paint is enough to protect it or do i need something better. If so, what do i need?

here are some pics, what do u guys think

that thing is giving me the munchies just looking at it...

looks dope. fades are tuff esp. with spray cans.

spar varnish 20$ or more a quart. One quart. if you want the "good" stuff
find it at a marine store or woodworkers store. foam roller or good brush. 3 coats. dry 24 hours, sand between coats 220 grit. 3 day project.

bulletproof. well almost.

it'll add a little weight too. which will help.

looks great though.

you can always take it by a body shop and have them clear coat the hell out of it when they paint a car. you can probably get it done for around $20.
anyway. my 2 cents

don't use spray paint clear. it will peel off in no time.

depends if you do a good job taping it off. I had a board with some sigs on it last year. I lightly sanded it and used about 2cans of spray clear and it worked out just fine. sigs were still there at the end of the season

That is so sick. I tried to paint my skate once but it did not work out. The orange that my bro bought was construction paint and added half a centemeter to the base and 10 pounds. so we had to peel it off. Smash

thanks for the kind words. I found out how to do it on one of the features on this site. Basicallt u sand the bottom so its all scuffed up and clean it. Then I gave it a coat of primer and then like 2 good coats of black. Then I taped off the squares that i wanted to stay black. And then started with red spray paint , then while it was still whet feaded it to yellow and then to green. Let it dry, take off the tape and the graphic will be done. Then i made sure it was all clean and clear coat, wet sand, clear coat, etc.
