Anyone that knows anything about Sea Doos....

We took out my 95 GTX yesterday, and it's been running great the past couple of weeks, but we get out on the water and the engine isn't producing enough power. It starts up fine, but when you push the throttle, the engine isn't making the power to go anywhere, just kind of idles along at a couple miles an hour. Just recently had it serviced, new spark plugs, new battery, etc. Any ideas?

check the impeller, you might have sucked something up that the guard didnt catch, it would suck if that happened cus its expensive to fix

I would have suggested taking a hammer and slightly tapping things.

It won't correct any internal issues, but it will make you look busy.

man, that chick is such a jerk!

I'd be willin' to bet a lot of money this is you're problem, cause my ski will be in the shop today getting this same thing fixed. Based on you're description you need a new WARE RING...a ware ring can be chewed up by rocks, ropes, etc. over time. What has happened is, since you're ware ring is either about to go or completly shredded, you've lost clearance from the impellar to the ware ring, which makes the ski cavitate. The pump will have to be taken off to replace the ware ring and supposedly it's kinda of a PITA job, so unless you got a hook up on the labor, it might be a little exspensive. A new ware ring isn't very exspensive though. hope that helps you out!!! Smile

senorbueno I believe LakeLife is correct. That has happened to me, oh, lets see now, probably six times. It's not a cheap fix but it's not expensive either. I want to say about 150?. The part is cheap, as LakeLife mentioned, labor is not.

Alright, I'll get my dealer to take a look at it next week when I take it to San Antonio...

Thanks for the advice.

senorbueno, also check the exhaust manifold to make sure you aren't losing any back-pressure on the engine. It was real easy to fix on my '99 gti, but it took forever to figure it out. Hopefully it's something simple and you can get back on the water asap. Good luck!
