I have a seadoo 06 wake and was curious how you guys split up the gas bill. Gas is around $2.85 here and climbing.
Usually 3-5 of us go out and ride. I always carry my rope/handle and a few jackets. Also a few people have been using my wakeboard every time we go out but two of them finally got their own boards(they're in the mail).
I usually try to get $10 a person. However, almost every time there is one douche nozzle that doesn't pay or even offer. I'm not rich but don't mind pulling people at all but it's not free.
I hate asking for money when it SHOULD be offered. It's wear and tear on my vehicle/jet ski/boards/etc. Also, I let very few people tow the ski because I take excellent care of my stuff so I'm very picky. I'm not trying to make money off a trip to the lake but also don't like footing the bill more than I have to.
How do you guys work it out?
edit- to clarify the lake we ride at is 20+ minutes away. |

i have a jet ski on my lake that i ride behind a lot with some other friends. however i never have to tow mine anywhere and most the people i ride with have all their own equipment. i just say 5 bucks, that's not even 2 gallons so it definitely is not asking for too much. _________________

I made it clear with my buddies when I first bought my seadoo - if you want to ride you must pitch gas money. I'm pretty tight with the guys I ride with so it's no big deal to ask for some $$ even if they didn't really want to pitch in. I give them a little bit of a break when they have no money on them and just ask them to put a bunch more gas the next time we have to fill up. You shouldn't feel bad asking your friends for gas money, they're ignorant for not offering. _________________ www.sattelyte.com

Let your friends know they gotta pay to play. If someone is not chipping in then either have one of your other friends talk to them in private or just don't invite him out anymore. _________________

my crew does it tight. we all know when it's our turn and my roomie last summer, skatefilly, would just switch off filling my ski up w/ me. that worked out well. about 50 bucks each probably 4x a month. he split oil changes w/ me too which was tight cause that shiit is expensive when you are putting on heavy hours like we do!
it's different if your buds are really into it or if they go just for something to do. that plays a huge role in attitude about the Gbill, ect |

we just split the bill right down the middle. however much gas and oil costs we divide that by how many people are there. and if one guy has no money we split his amount up and he pays double next time. _________________ .............for no particular rhyme or reason............. |

I am going to have my friends that i ride with this year all go get a 5 gallon can and every time we go out bring it full.
The worst is going out and some one give you 5 bucks like that does something with a boat that takes $100 to fill up. |

I don't generally collect gas money myself. But if I go out riding with someone I try to throw at least $20 their way for a few pulls. _________________ The aforementioned postings and musings are the opinions of myself in their entirety and are not the opinions of wakeskating.com |

| My buddy i usually ride with, we split the gas or i fill it once he fills it the next, works great. When other people come they usually throw me $10 or we call it even and i get a free pull from them on there ride. If someone comes out just to chill or just a quick tiny set i turn down the gas money. When i ride with someone else i give $10 for a jet ski set and $20 for a boat. 50 cents a min on a ski, 1 a min on a boat. Works good. If you have a regular crew just be up front and say 10 each time or take turns filling it up. |

It's the good faith system out here.
We all stay at each others house and ride in our cars and behind the jet skis and boats, so we usually figure it balances out. If the balance is tipped though, it's not out of line to mention it. And if someone needs gas money, it's never held against them if they ask.
It works well. _________________ √ |
