Ok, so its your turn, let me hear your ideas for once. I will start off like this, Sea-Doo is trying to step up for 2007 in a decent way, then in 2008, Sea-Doo is planning on having a bigger role then in the past in the Wakeskate/board industry. What we want to hear is what you think about are lineup. We want to know what you think, your complaints, and also how would you make the product better. I will be up front here though, without going to far before the 2008 lineup is announced in a few months, but there have been changes, and it is all in the rite direction. But we still want your input. Another thing I want some of you too look at if you have not, anyone who has not seen are GTi on Sea-Doo.com, go check it out, its very well priced, and is a 1500 cc four stroke, and it comes in 130 and 155 hp package. And its priced around $7,000. Also if you have not seen it yet, we have a 23 foot wake edition boat out for this year. Tell us what you think. What would you think of a Sea-Doo demo day? kind of like a come out and test the product, and let us give you a pull.
Anyway's let us know what you think, and check out the 2007 lineup at Sea-Doo.com. I will be at all of the Pro Wakeboard Tour rounds, and all of the Byerly Toe Jam stops, and select others, So if you are at any of these events stop on by say what's up, let me know your thoughts, maybe I will buy you a drink if your of age, and have some good input.

Thanks all

Seadoo demo day would be sick, if they allowed you to skate behind them. I wish that was possible when I was buying my Seadoo last year. I still ended up buying a seadoo, but it would have been nice to get to ride behind the wake before dishing the cash out.

Its nice to see seadoo introduce a budget oriented ski with the GTi, but IMO it looks even cheaper that its price. Kind of looks like a an ugly older Yamaha ski from the early 90s or something. I love the GTX and RXT (although the RXTs wake really sucks for skating) they look pretty hot and I know last years drove like a dream. As for the seadoo boat, it looks cool, but hows the most important thing - the wake? Lets be honest, seadoo boat wakes in the past have been terrible. Any chance you can mail me the beer?

I don't know if it would be possible, but perfect pass on a jetski would be awesome.. of course it would have to be fool proof (maybe with seat sensors, to turn off if you fall off...)

Improve the board racks, also, if they didnt splash the spotter as much that would be pretty nice.

Bigger mirrors to watch the rider with. Its hard to tell if your friend threw a vflip or kflip on the mirrors today Laughing and its not too safe to look over your shoulder to watch them throw the trick.

stereos, ipod connections (even just a audio in jack would be awesome)... it gets boring towing rope hog friends around Smile

wakeskate(or wakeboard) specific hull to create the best wake for riding. A lot of people who wakeskate with seadoo wake editions only use their skis for riding, and could care less how the ski can preform as a personal watercraft (as in normal personal watercraft uses)

a locking storage area would be cool... maybe create an opening on the storage compartment that would allow you to store up to a size 43 inch wakeskate? that would be kind of cool if there is enough room to add it.

And i'm not knocking the seadoo wake ed. I love the ski exactly how it is now. the stuff I mentioned above are just some "nice to haves."

Chris

How about incorporating a way to control speed? I know a perfect pass type set-up is out of the question due to safety reasons, but there are surely other ways. If you could figure a way to have a set speed, there would be one less thing for the driver to have to focus on and pulling someone becomes safer.

One idea I had is to somehow limit the max speed of the ski. Then, it would drive like a normal ski (if driver is not wearing the strap and falls it would not be an unguided missile) but you would be able to just hold the throttle all the way down and stay consistent, or at least as consistent as jet propulsion can be. This could not only be marketed to the wake crowd, but also to parents, rental places, and people that just don't want their ski to go 60 mph (or however fast they go these days). With this method, the driver is still in full control of the ski and can also hold a nice speed for the person they are pulling.

Example:
Billy tells Johnny he wants to be pulled at 22 mph. Johnny says "ok" and sets the max speed to 22 before moving. When Billy is ready, Johnny pulls him up just as normal and then just holds the throttle all the way down giving him more focus on the driving and his rider.

I am sure there are problems with this idea, but I thought I would just throw it out there.

EDIT: Chris kinda beat me to it. But I will leave this as its a little different.

I also was thinking of the wake specific hull before. Kind of like what epic has done with boats. Make an entire ski that is built from the ground up to pull wakers. As little as the wake a ski puts out matters, I have heard quite a few people mention that they don't like specific skis' wakes lately, so it is obviously becoming more important. Not necessarily size, but shape. Why not try to get the most out of a ski?

Killer comments guys, a few things i have never even thought of, and a few may not be to far away from production, keep it coming. Ohhh and the wake boat. the wake is good, it has 1000 pds of ballast, but let me tell you, you add 2 more fat sacks and its really good, We will have video of it up soon. PIRATE, yes I will be in Havasu, I have going there every year for the past 11 years, so we will ride when I come this year, I will also be at the Hippodrome, so lets meet up, I know your always down for a drink.

Instead of just making the hull a certain shape, make a system dangerously close to the power wedge, so you have more control over the wake

and maybe like 100-200 lbs of built in ballast tanks on the wake editions (more on the boat)

Too late. Oh well. If something ever comes out like that, you all know whos idea it was first. Maybe they can send me a ski or give me a job or something.

Hyperlite_06Byerly, I am not too familiar with how a wedge works, but it seems like a good idea to me. It crossed my mind when I was thinking of how I would design a wake specific ski. It just seems like all Sea-doo is doing to make their wake edition ski is to take an existing ski, bolt on a few things, and give it a paint job. Now I am in no way downing Sea-doo for what they are doing, because as of now, they are the only company to even step up to the plate. And now they are even coming on an online forum to get some input. Bravo. I am just saying, there are a lot of little things that could be done to make a true wake ski. Would it be enough of an improvement to warrant the development costs when compared to what is out there today? Honestly, probably not. Especially considering the small market. But I dont know the numbers.

And now I am awkwardly going to end my post because I lost my train of thought and seemed to have talked myself into a circle.

Wakeskis........yea

Cody25911 this is a little off subject so sorry in advance but I gotta know....

Are you aware of any problems with the pumps on the 04 Wakeboard Edition Sea Doo Jetski. I have an 04. One day it acted up, it wouldn't really pull me out of the water so I took it in and BAM they call me and say I need to replace all this stuff including the pump. They said that the newer model's pumps are made with metal, mine is plastic? I was told it has been replaced because the plastic gets too hot and melts causing rings, ect to warp and steering/pickup start to suck. So outta all that the question is are you aware of the switch in material for the pump and is their anyway SeaDoo would atleast hook me up w/ a metal pump and other necessary parts to get the job done at cost? It would be rad. Help me man, I called customer service and the lady that I spoke w/ was incredibly unhelpful. I also inquired to my dealer about that proposition and they have ignored their promise to call me back to let me know what they could do. They have completely neglected to return my call. Help me.

I also have to add that the dealership told me they would check into it because they saw it somewhat like I did (unless they were hosing me) that the stress of skating behind it may be causing the increased heat. I said even if it is, it is marketed to ride behind, it's the freaken Wakeboard Edition, they sponsored Cassette, a wakeskate team, they sponsor and skate behind them at the PT so come on. If they changed the material because of a problem like mine, I think it would be tight if they atleast let me get the job done by paying for the parts at cost, so no loss on their part for parts and then free or discounted labor on the part of my dealer. They could take it up w/ SeaDoo. Please, if my request is incredibly out of line and you think no one, including you would help me just let me know so I can get on with it and try to get some cash together to fix this thing.

A good size water proof compartment would be a good idea. A way to transport photo/film equipment to different shooting locations with out the need for a housing.
