brianl289, you keep the board under you while you are still in the water, when there is tension in the rope from the boat or ski moving then you tip up your feet a bit to keep the board pressed against them. from there it is pretty much like a normal start. all you gotta remeber iis when the boat is pulling you a bit to keep the board a bit in front of you good luck bro. |

Yeah, you can hold the deck in front of your feet (with the the bottom facing the boat) until there's tension on the rope, then the board will just stick to your feet like a wakeboard, and you can get up just the same way.
Then there's the fun way (like Mr Vince said) once you are a little more confident with getting up, which is just standing on the board and putting a little more weight on your heels as the rope gets taught, and once you start going, you lean back a little and just kind of rise to the top. _________________

When you get up by standing on the board in the water, do you have to bend your knees as you rise or do you keep your legs pretty straight and pop out of the water standing up? _________________

| dont have your legs straight in the fiirst place foo. have em at like a 90 degree angle all da time, then when you go to get up let em come up to yo chest a bit annd you should pop right outta da wata. and then you can stand up. |

haha yeah its kind of a drag its easier to do the underwater start and have the driver hurry up before you sink too much _________________ "i got nipples greg...can ya milk me" |

yea i mean i can do the wakeboard way easy, but with my oak it doesnt float very well. i mean if i put it underwater it takes a while to come back up. maybe thats why it was so difficult trying. but since the girlfriend just got me a 06 byerly i can try it now |

Would be hard to start board under-feet if you haven't got a vest on & there's no line tension.. With a vest on at least you don't have to tread water. _________________

some people are just more bouyant than others. The same goes with skates. But yeah you have to tread water with your arms when riding with no vest. But the only logical way of avoiding this problem isssssss............. wear a vest, do it for yourself, your friends, and your family.
back on topic..... i start off like a kneeboard.. i find it easier to stand up once im on plane. |

Good one lake tarpon, some people drink copious amounts of beer just to float..
But seriously, I think the debate about wearing vests is passe when it comes to deepwater riding. |
