I am getting an 07 ski and i am debating between an Yamaha FX cruiser 3 seater or the Sea doo wake ed... obvisouly they will have warrenties on them but I am asking this question cause i dont want it to be in the shop all the time
I will be pulling with this ski EVERYDAY this summer and trailoring it and whatnot so Reliability and Durability are important. With that said If you had an good/ bad expierence with either one please let me know !!!
I know this has been discussed previously but i am wondeirng about the newer models more specifically !!

I work at a rental business, and I have to say, all we have had is problems with our sea-doos, but our yamaha held up really well. The sea doos (an 05 GTX and an 06 GTX) both had leaking exhaust problems, and the older one's engine seemed to screw up left right and center.
The yamaha worked really well all summer until some moron ran it in less than 18 inches of water and sucked sand into the intake and claimed that "it just stopped working" so my buddy let him exchange it for the 06, and while he was driving it back to the shop, it caught fire.
So really, the only problem we had was the fact that it was in flames...but that was due to a moron, whereas the sea-doos just tended to fvck up a lot.

spadedout41, hey man i just bought a brand new 06 yamaha vx110 deluxe. the thing has so much power everyone that ever rides behind says how nice it is. i really dont see the need for the fx crusier enless you just want to spend mo money. only differece is like 1100vs1200/seat/and couple other things.
oh and the sea-doo sea-doos have a really bad rep in the repair world as always breaking down but it seems like their are alottttt more seadoos on the water so this explains all the sea-doos in the shop. but alot of people talk about their self contained cooling system as having bugs or whatever.
either way get a warranty and youll have nothing to worry about. i bought the 5 year warranty covering everything and i bought maintnence/oil changes for the life of the jetski.

One thing I noticed on my friends sea doo, is that the seat doesnt have a good seal. If you flip it, flip it over right away, my friends almost sank when we were trying to get the rope out of th grate

I worked in a jetski shop(training as a tech) ... Yamaha is more reliable than Seadoo, our shop was aways filled with Seadoo's. Seadoo makes a nice ski, but Yamaha is the way to go. I had 2 seadoo's ,if I got another ski it would be a Yamaha.

i have a seadoo wake ed. and i love it,wake isnt very big @ all so i dont really get why they call it the wake ed. ha ha but i have flipped it over before and it was fine..i flush it everytime i take it out of the water so its in really good shape but Yamahas are pretty sick too and def. put out a bigger wake.

DirtyCracker, for sure ... so you are satisfied with the 110hp the VX is using ... like enough for pulls with a spotter on, does it hold speed consistently?? stuff like that becuase i would love to save about 2 g's on the difference if it does the job

dude the 110 is so sweet really. i have 2 people on the ski 1 person pulling and a 85 pound fat sack and the thing doesnt even act like its under load. so much power you have to be carfull when you start someone thing will just take off. i can usally find the perfect spot right between 20-21 and it will hold that speed consistant for miles
i was going to buy the fx but after talking to my hookup at yamaha i was like forget i want a hardcore machine just for wakeskating not for cruiseing.

Here we go the big Yamaha Sea-Doo debate. Sea-Doo's are always in the shop? Like in an earlier post, yea, maybe a few are in the shop, but that doesn't say much when Sea-Doo is the Number one watercraft seller in the world, and when I say number one, I mean Sea-Doo has 50% of the market share. they sell 100,000 units a year, I hope there are problems with it, that's what warranty is for, and Sea-Doo offers a 3 year warranty till the end of April for free. They sell half of the watercraft people buy in North America and the other three brands share the rest of that. Does Yamaha support the sport you so dearly love? No, They use to, but when there was no return from the sport, they took all there money and spent it else were, Sea-Doo has been in the sport since 1992 and still hasn't backed out. As a matter of fact they stepped up, not only sponsoring the Pro Tour, but is also the official watercraft of the Byerly Toe Jam, Carnival, and a few others that will be announced soon. Sea-Doo also has some new stuff they will introduce this year and next, and you will see why you should buy a sea-doo, support the people who support you.

Ps- I will soon be posting all of are 2007 plans and riders here very soon.

I own a 2006 Yamaha VX DeLuxe. Never had a problem with it, works great. One of the best out there...
Btw Cody25911, that might be the case in the US but in nothern Europe Yamaha is coming on really strong supporting different riders, events etc. It's great that Sea Doo support events, riders etc but it's all about personal preferences for the buyer in the end... I got a sponsorship deal with Yamaha Scandinavia and they're amped on wakeskating. Although, for average Joe I think it's all about price, warranty, reliability etc and not which brand support which event.
...and (if I'm not mistaken) speaking of events btw... who was the main sponsor at the very first rail comp "The Carnival" back in the 90's? Yamaha...
What brand do one of the best camps (The Projects Camp )use on a daily basis? Or at least used to for a couple of years? Yamahas...
