| your average deck can power you 2 speakers pretty well actually. basically what ever you hear in your car is powered the same way. only thing is, when your on a jetski you have engine noise and water noise, so an amp is usually required to boost those speakers that much more. plus runnin speakers off just a deck will give you mad distortion which will sound like poopy.

Hey guys i did some research last night and thought up a design... run a RCA audio cord (red & white) from your ipod to the rca input on the amp... then hook up two tower speakers of reasonable size and wattage (100-125 watts ea.) to the 2 channel, WATERPROOF amp. And for the power source run the +12V DC power supply to the positive terminal of the pwc battery! Then attach the tower speakers to the pylon on the pwc or some other way that i have not thought of yet. Hey OH! and we are in business... here is a diagram and a list of stuff... check ebay for cheap, but quality, tower speakers and amp.

that sounds pretty good an all, but honestly those batteries are weak as poop. i think objective number one is how to either
a) upgrade the stator to supply more power
b) upgrade to a boat battery, assuming the jetski electronics can handle it.
c) daisy chain 2 jetski batteries together
also your going to either need a switch to turn the amp off everytime you shut off the jetski, or someway to wire the remote wire. teh switch is easiesst but if you forget to turn it off the battery is in trouble.

look into optima sealed nicad car and boat batterys (yellow, red ,and blue top styles). They are all 12volts and waterproof and you can mount them in any direction ( upside down or whatever.) They are sealed and maintenace free. They come in many different sizes. i have a Yellow top style in my boat and its last ALL day no problem. Flick a switch in the battery compartment rev the motor up and its charged again. then flip the switch off. I have two amps and the head unit connected and there absolutley no engine noise at all because when in use its a stand alone system. woot woot
im not too familiar with jet ski electronics but i thought they were 12 volts? cant you just get a motorcyle style sealed optima battery. ebay it i bet there not too bad and they don't develop a memory so you can charge and discharge the $hit out of them. Unlike a regular motorcyle battery that you cant drain to zero too many times or it will deteriorate and not charge as well any more.
the ipod or mp3 player is a perfect idea. They make a mini plug (headphone jack style) to rca converter. then hook up the remote wire on the amp to a waterproof switch on the side of the battery compartment and only turn on the amp when your ipod is playing and you want the amp to turn on.
Ive got some cheap fusion audio speakers 61/2" for like 20 bucks each from "the wholeslae house" there made of waterproof materials. im sure they would work if you made some decent housings. then bang! youre BANGING
hope this may help someone.

dirtysouthrocknroll has got the right idea, there's no point in putting in a deck into the seadoo thats work trouble then it's worth, using a Ipod or a mp3 is the key, and like he said use the RCA to headphone cord and the amp and your in buisness,
It's not to cirtical to have a waterprove amp cause you can mount the amp in one of the waterprove storage areas in the seadoo, the speakers however need to be water prove.
Once I get my ski i'll be doing this up right away!!
Good thread man!!

| im going to run an optima battery completely independant from the jetskis. and the removable platform will be a steel frame that will slide into the compartment so that it can easily be removed for charging and if someoen wants to go out on the ski and spin and stuff.

| i asked about this way back when like a year ago, and nobody was really into the idea, but now everybody is comming up with it and its making me want to do it agan. where would yall mount your speakers? i would just use the clamp that that have on them that are supposed to clamp around the tower or w/e but im going to clamp them to the handle comming off of the back of my ski(honda aquatrax f12x). because thats not really in the way of anything like rope or w/e. what about yall

| well my handle on the back of my seadoo isnt very rounded, more of an oval. and most of these cans are a foot long. but i looked under the handle, and where the seat clips in there is a big ol bolt coming out of the middle. im going to find a but that fits it, and then make some kind aof contraption coming off of it and weld a tube to it for the speakers. when i get some plans drawn out ill post them up and it will make more snse

| i asked someone i know who works at a stereo place and he thinks you can run one for a few hours he said. whcih i think would last longer given you have it off when you dont use it and charge it often. i plan on getting teh optima marine battery, maybe 2 if i can find them cheap enough.
