I am a new member on here, but i do enjoy reading all the posts that everybody puts up, and also when someone asks for help the amount of feedback that everyone gives. So I have a request. I am an avid wakeskater, and I also write an action sports column for a local general interest magazine. Basically what I do is I write about action sports and tie it in to our local culture. My dilemma is there is not a large wakeskating scene out here. Which is the reason why they took my idea of writing an article called “What is Wakeskating?” So if you could post some thoughts of how you would describe wakeskating to someone who has never heard of it that would be great. I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag but I have been working on lining up some pro interviews for this article as well. When it is published I will post a link to it on this site for all those interested. Please do not post unless you are willing to be quoted in an article. Thanks so much.

A wakeskate isn't Wood or Griptape or a Towing device, Thats what wakeskates are made of. What wakeskating is................................... IS FREEDOM.

to me, wakeskating is a form of self expression just as music or art is. there are no rules to wakeskating, there are no boundaries, you just go out on the water and ride as you please. there is also very little money involved in wakeskating, which goes to show that the people involved in the sport are in it for the right reasons. wakeskaters are also the most genuine and hospitable people you will ever meet.

Wakeskating shapes my life. When i think of wakeskating i dont just think of riding on the board itself but I think of all the things that come with it. Meeting new people, building rails, traveling, building winches, discovering new gaps, lakes, rivers. Wakeskating has given me so many memorable experiences that I will never forget and for that i am grateful every day i shread the water.
