I go to the art institute of pittsburgh and my major is industrial design. Which is designing products like cars, toys, movie props, and other neato things. I was thinking that I love wakeskating, and I could possibly make a career desiging wakeskates, or something in the feild of wakeboards and wakeskates. I want to look into designing and constructing a composite wakeskate, I found info on making surf boards but thats about it. If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great. or what goes into makeing a composite wakeskate.

You are gonna wanna learn a lot about hydrodynamics. Mostly what it takes to make a good skate like shape, rocker, concave, materials... etc.

Get very acquainted with the hydrodynamics of a 38-42 inch skate with a 120-180 lb. person riding at 20-25 mph.

Those would be your basic stats to work with.

I havent had my CAD class yet, but I have played around with it
but today in the shop, people had this green foam that was pretty strong, and very very firm, light too( couldn't puncture it with my finger) I thought this material might be used . when I get more info I'll keep you posted on progress but right now I'm swamped. week and a half left in this quarter and the shop is always full.
