Snowboard Help

Hello Ladies and Gents, I need some help finding a good board. Are there any online shops that sell closeouts and stuff like that? Ive been demoing/Renting boards because I live in FL for way to long (since like 94). I did the math and what Ive paid out for all that all these years I could've had about 3 or more of the sickest setups. I don't need the latest and greatest just something to not have to rent anymore and have my own. Thanks in advance. I demoed the Ride Fleetwod 158 this past trip and really loved it.

I heard a lot of good things on the 07 GNU Rider's Choice.. and the LIB TECH "Contradiction" (Travis Rice) is a sick freestyle board. I know a guy that rides for Flow and he said he really likes the Quantum. There's so many boards out there.. but you should def invest in your own.. Renting/Demoing kills you in the long run.

i dont think demoing and renting is a complete waste of money. i mean, say you go to some sport shop and they have a board there that you really like. just demo one somewhere and see if it's for you. i think it gets to be a waste when you never buy a board.

but anyway, like most board sports, the board you ride is all preference. i tend to like boards in a size around my collar bone and chine because of how much easier it seems to control in the air or on rails (a lot of shops will recommend going for a board that goes up to your nose). ive had a lamar for the last year and a half. i sold it to a family friend for a $100 last month because it was getting ridiculously too small

i dont recommend a ride just from some experiences. they are very popular demo boards. but a few friends that have had one say that they dont tend to last very long. but that was a few years ago, they may have changed some things around so that they last longer. but if you liked the board, go for it. and if doesn't work out, try a different one

the lib tech travis rice is what I ride its sooooo sweeet.....the ride kink is a great board for everything but pow....you can get them online for less than 300.....The lib youth in asia is also sick I rode that for a while, burton dominant sooo sick...you have a million options......check out capita they have really solid boards, if you want a noodle I have a capita stairmaster 152 I rode in a contest once????

check out backcountry.com outlet store, they have some atomics and they make a super good board, and also they have the nitro team which is super sick board. I use to have a fleetwood but if you are use to wakeskating get a more freestyle snowboard as opposed to a freeride on. The fleetwood is super wide and great for powder, but not as much with park features. I like a twin tip or a diretional twin, with lots of snap, the fleetwood is i bit more damp and harder to control for me bombing down the hill. It doesn't handle cruddy snow that well. Fun board to ride but there are a lot better for the same price point

Jesse, what kind of riding do you like to do? Where would you use this board the most (park, freeriding, all around-jobby)? How would you categorize your ability level? And do you have large feet? What is your body weight?

Those are the most basic questions to answer. For starters, that fleetwood you demoed is a wide board for the boys with big feet. Secondly, that's one of their "entry level" type boards. That doesn't mean it's crap becuase this year they used linear carbon in that board, but it's going to be your basic snowboard and it's going to be easy to learn on (it's soft, slightly directional, radial sidecut).

But like everyone said, there's a world of boards out there, and it's hard to just give you a good board to ride. Like mikes(etc) said, the dominant and the kink (comparable boards, though the dominant core is more advanced) are going to be good park sticks. The nice thing about the kink is that it has a slime wall construction, which is like a soft durometer urethane that helps with dampening and durability. The dominant is also a mid-wide, which will help if you do have larger feet.

I personally ride a lib tech dark series from last year. It's the best board I've ever ridden...it's really snappy, and good for my midwest riding (from park to mach-10 hard pack carves). it has a quadratic styled sidecut, which means there are three radii blended into the side cut, so you can get as aggressive as you want with it.

Personally speaking, I like what lib, gnu and ride are doing. I like the fact that they're coming up with sweet, original technology to make your board ride better. Burton has some interesting stuff as well, but I guess I'm not even too into what they have becuase they only use radial sidecuts. that may sound dumb to some people, but after riding that quadratic style, I just don't ever want to go back.

Anyway, if you can answer the questions in my first couple of sentences, it might be easier to direct you to a board you'd like. but it is a good idea to demo the stuff before you buy it, unless you know what you like. And PM me if you have any questions, too.

electricsnow, you are who I exactly wanted to talk to when the idea came to make this thread.

1. As far as style of ride I would say all around, I like Gerry Lopez surf style turns using the whole slope like a greedy S.O.B. but also like bits of everything else.

2. I would say honestly that Im an intermediate, I mean I've been riding 2 weeks a year for like 13 years, a couple years I went to the mountains twice in a year.

3. Are trying to flirt with me? I wear 10.5/11 boots
