| Can someone please tell me the pros and cons of both. I'm assuming grip is better but I would like to know exactly why. Also if I bought a foam top skate could i re-grip it with grip tape? |

foam can be used barefoot, is soft, wont hurt you,
but it is very sticky and is hard to move your feet around, and since its soft you dont get the true feel of the board shape
grip has the right amount of grip not sticky, but grippy. it gives you the true feel of the board shape.
but it can give you grip burn if you fall on the board and it is highly recomended to wear shoes. |

yeah, since the foam is thicker, it reduces the feeling from the concave since it takes up that extra space. I remember the old SBG hyperlite skates and those didn't have too much concave to begin with, and the foam made it ten times worse.
and like mitch said, sometimes the foam can be pretty tacky, so it's a bit harder to comfortably slide your feet around. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

| ive used foam for a year, but the wakeskate i learned on was grip. so my next trip to the river im probably going to grip it. e-snow and mitch are right, it is a lot more difficult to slide your feet around on foam than grip tape. foam is often recommended to people new to wakeskating because it is more forgiving in falls than grip. |

I know it's not much a difference when you look at them side by side.
However, due to the ridges in the foam pattern, I bet on grip you are 4xcloser to the deck.
Grip is the real mcoy. Have you guys seen Grubb's new deck? It's mostly foam, but where your feet go there is grip wtf? _________________ dbanana wrote:
