it means there are kicktails on the board, its personal preference, if you skateboard id suggest a 5 stage, because of the kicktails (the extra 2 stages) _________________ 2 Hands Working Do More Than 1000 Hands Praying |

I was about to splurge on your face with a ton of negativity but then i decided not to. and no a 7 stage isn't next.
its just the curve of the board, like a flat deck is a 1 stage _________________ I heart wakeskating. one day we will reunite for a daily morning glass sesh,,, one day..... |

dirtyohioriver22, by flat deck i hope your are refering to something like a piece of plywood with no bend and not a board without concave.
personally i do not like five stage rockers. i do not find them to have more pop and i find myself to be much more comfortable on a three stage board. |

I was about to splurge on your face but I also decided not too. Here's a lesson... a flat deck means there is no concave on top. The Rocker is the shape of the base of the wakeskate when you look at it from a side profile. For example : \__/
there you can see the side profile of an extremely agressive 3 stage
Stage 1: \
Stage 2:__
Stage 3: /
I would say after riding both that each has it's perks. 5 Stage will give you more of a skateboard feeling but IMO regular 3 Stage just rides better. I think I can pop tricks higher and the board seems more predictable.
That is just my opinion after riding a 3 stage for a month last year and a 5 for a couple months after. Also you will get used to either style rocker after riding it for a while. |

| The new Ronix boards are 5 stages and they look sweet. One of my friends got the One, another got the Coven. Both are 5 stages, even though the Coven claims to be a continuous. Dunno if its really going to help any, but it does look awesome. I cant see how it could be bad. If anything its just going to buck harder, which is never a bad thing for a wakeboarder. |

Wakeboarding is a different sport son, they also use moonboots.
5 stage IMO just creates too much drag in the water having all those planes on the bottom. And however you look at it, it's all about panel rockers these days _________________ √ |

| che blanc, agreed. ive started riding a couple mph faster to compensate and like it a lot better. 3 stage is choice but i really dont think a bunch should be debating which is better. its like saying a sedan is better than a coupe. (btw, new board 14 lb? sounds interesting, definately the only thing that would make integs better) |

i made the switch from the tnt (6.25 lbs) to last years union awhile back(15.8 lbs) and personally i found it amazing, the way the board tracked in the water with the 5 stage i thought was very nice, i still havnt had a hang up on the wake or the board sticking at all. Ive really enjoyed the 5 stage rocker so far, I like that companies out there are pushing something different and stuff havnt done to boards before, like the 5 stage. I think it needs time of improvement because making it just right and having each stage bend in the right spot is a delacit (sp) process. IMO - I have improved more on a 5 stage than anything else ive rode, btw I dont even know how to ollie on a skateboard nor have any background with it. So i think that eliminates the skateboard background = 5 stage thing if there was one. 5 stage = my thumbs up _________________ Helium - Devotid Wakeskates - Anarchy Eyewear |

dirtyohioriver bathes in the dew of bitterness.
Just like wakeboarders and their wakeboards (gasp!), I'm sure that wakeskaters will have their rocker patterns that suit their tastes and riding styles as well. And I also believe that 5 stage is NOT a gimmick. Someone out there has been playing around with that rocker pattern on wakeskates since the mid to late 90s (you know who you are). _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |
