| Since my kawasaki crapped out on me last year ive managed to wakeskate once or twice a month. Ive had enough of that though and im looking into getting a new affordable ski. Im looking at the vx110 deluxe because it seems to have enough power for wakeskating and what not and the dependability is always there with a yamaha. I was just wondering what everyones thoughts were on this model. If you know anything about it i would greatly appreciate youre feedback.

kyle41, the seadoo gti seems like a good affordable ride as well.

The Yamaha VX110 Deluxe is great for wakeskating. I have a 2006 model and the overall quality is very good. In my opinion one of the best out there. (and cheaper than the Sea Doo Wake)

Their a great ski! If they can hold up after daily abuse from renters for two years, it should hold up for a wakeskater for sure. Can't go wrong with a yamaha ski on the water.

I have a 05 wake ed. and i have all sorts of problems with it... not really problems just some complaints...
My board racks have both fallen off or broke, the pylon makes it really wobly and jerky if the rider pulls to hard and it can be hard to drive and hold speed.
My parents have 2 yammahas at there lake house and i love riding behind them, there solid in the water easy to drive and have a nice lip for i/o shizzle.
go with a yammaha

kyle41, Sorry bout that...Ya i've been pulled around by a few VX 110s and it wasn't a problem at all. The Sea Doo's are pretty sick tho.

nopulseimpulse, no sir... worked like a champ till the end of summer... then we took it in for a starting issue and the shop said we got water in the block... (this was after 6 weeks of them leaving it outside to rust) and then yamaha isnt covering it under the warranty and we havnt even had it for a year... law suit pending

is 110 hp about right for wakeskating? I'm 200 lbs, and between pulling me, and a spotter, that seems like a lot to ask of a 110hp engine.
On a similar note. If you guys had the option between a seadoo wake, or a speedster what would you take? they're not that far off in price, and you can seat an extra person in the boat. Not to mention the boat you can use into the fall and stay warmer.
Clearly a used inboard would be the best, but thats more in gas, and its not new (less maintenance issues...)

randal, my Sea Doo Gtx from 1995 with 88 hp pulls me (about 175) + plus a driver and a third(another 330 lbs or so) just fine... The thing eats oil, but for being 12 years old, not a bad ride. Whenever you cut really hard, the ski starts to plane off to the side a little bit, and sometimes it can be a little tough keeping a steady speed like that, but after a bit of practice driving it's not bad at all.
Is more horse power nice, yes. Is it going to hurt you w/out the super charged 4 stroke, not a bit. Get what you can afford comfortably, but 110 hp should be fine.
