I just don't understand why people insist on calling w2w switch frontside 180's half-cabs. Unless you are really riding fakie and popping off your real tail(appears to be your nose), THE'RE NOT. Call them what they are, SWITCH, or better yet for all of you real skaters out there(i.e. the ones that come from skaboarding, not wakeblading), just call them Hensley pops.

Snowboarding cabs are proper because you are popping off of your nose( really the tail)

what about hardflips, it seems like everybody on the wakeskate just does frontside varials and calls them hardflips. a hardflip is popped completely vertically then flicked halfway.

Incentive, a hardflip is a frontside shuvit with a kickflip. that nasty flip thing that goes between skateboarders legs is not a real hardflip.

Incentive, Mr. Top Hat, is right. a hardflip IS actually a frontside varial. The "nasty things" that go between skateboarders legs are also hardflips, just with a completely different style. If you really break it down, it still rotates as a fs shuv + kickflip, just in a different motion. I can rotate them both ways on a skateboard, i just feel more comfortable with the "nasty" way. I can pop them higher Smile

the cab 7 nose popping thing is malarky. If it wasn't, then dudes would be throwing "nollie 7s" off of kickers as well and they'd say, "but beyotch, it's legit. I kind of popped off of my nose." It's the same break in terminology that wakeboarding uses. And with that being said, when directional stances were heavy, technically, you could say they were doing legit half cabs and what have you.

anyway, I'm sure we'll live...

Well, I must say I am guilty of calling them halfcabs, but I do not come from a skate background at all and had no idea...I guess I shall use the proper terminology from now on... Thanks Mr. Internet!

So what was GD's kickflip called he hits off the kicker at Odub in volume, where he comes at it switch does a 90 spin coming up the kicker and a 90 kickflip off. Sorry I'm a little confused.

feelnjstfine, why dont u let who ever call it whatever they want. u dont have to call it that.
and dont tell me that snowboarders pop off their nose for a cab 7. i have snowboarded my whole life and i can pop off my nose or my tail switch. its still cab.

Raven, Actually he comes at the kicker fakie. It's a halfcab flip.

I call switch 180 a halfcab, but I don't say that I can cab 3 or cab 5, I say switch for those. Just saying cab by itself sounds weird.

I don't really care what you call it, but I do 2 different tricks switch that go like this:

Switch FS Flip - switch 180 + switch kickflip

Halfcab flip - switch 180 + late regular kickflip

If that's not a legit halfcab flip, sorry. It sure was fun to hit it Wink

P.S. I've thought the word halfcab out loud too many times and it now looks weird to read it or say it, that ever happen to anyone with other words? Spoon?
