Hey... I am coming from Croatia, hello 2 everyone.... and I need help... This year I crashed my ligaments wakeboarding and I am thinking about avoiding operation.... and maybe try to wakesk8 more. How it is going with ligaments on sk8? Is it harder than wakeboarding... or is it less injuries? (when we are talking about doing some tricks out of obstacles) Thanks a lot... _________________ When I see boys playing I also want to play!!!

its gonnabe less injuries since you are not straped in and when you fall you dont get ripped around wiht your boarb but your back fot can slide off and you could break a femur _________________ ~~~~~*~~~~~

| pretty much the worst injury you can get that i have seen is your back foot can come off and you do the splits, you can tear ligaments there, but the odds of that are very slim, not many people ever do it, i did it once but i was landing switch and wasnt too confident on where to put my feet. |

Man... in my opinion you shouldn't avoid your operation.
I've been waiting 2 years before getting an operation of my shoulder that was often dislocated because of a very bad wakeboard fall.
2 years without any sport activity except few wakeskate session (actually less than 10).
For me it was a bad idea to visit an hospital.
But after all that time i took my decision, met the good chirurgian and had my brand-new inox shoulder (just a litle 5cm screw).
3 weeks after the operation i'm feeling way better, and i keep in my mind that now everything will be alright even if the way to recovery is a little bit long.
In three month i should be able to wakeboard and wakeskate again without this shoulder in my mind.
If you don't get your operation you'll always have those ligaments in your mind even if you only walk in the street
Just my opinion. I know it's hard to take this kind of decision.... _________________ http://wakecity.free.fr

I dont really got... how you can break femur... it looks impossible... :S
And about operation, it is pretty hard here in Croatia... it is like we r living in history, and every doctor want to avoid operation.... and all the time everywhere I go I listen, forget about board... and it is pretty hard to take this desidion than...
I wakeboarded again after... and I shouldnt do this... and even went on rail few times.... and it was good untill i didnt tried new trick (stupiiiiid) and than again something happened... and blocked my knee... after this I was again on therapies... and it is again unblocked but not stabile... I made few circles on wakesk8 but I am affraid that something doesnt happen if I will try to do something else except cruising around... _________________ When I see boys playing I also want to play!!!

Somebody please post the pic of the broken femur X-rays, also, do a search for wakeboard Vs. Wakeskate injuries on wakeworld, there has been a lot of debate about this. You can screw yourself up pretty good on both, just in different ways. You just need to know the basics first before trying anything advanced , oh yeah, get your ligament fixed if you can, you will be way better off. |

| i put off my surgery for about 3 months so i can finish the season of wakeskating, i hurt it all the time but kept doin it anyway. i had the surgery about a month ago and i would recomend doing it if you wanna keep doin sports. i definatley wouldnt wakeboard being strapped in is deadly. having one less ligament makes all the rest way more vonerable for being snaped. i would also recomend a good knee brace to keep it stable. |

I will see it ... first is snowboard season... I will be happy if I could at least boarding on the slope with methal things around my knee... and I will see how is going with this... and after, we gonna see if my muscules are strong enough to joke around with wakesk8, and do some surface tricks, if not, than I think I am definitive going to make an operatio... Thanks a lot for advices...
Btw, I didnt expect that this forum is so active...

i messed up the ligaments in my ankle doing a shuv indy of a decent sized kicker at cable. had it boned out karate kick style and landed that way. 2-2.5m drop onto a bent ankle = serious injury. was out for at least 2 months and it still isn't 100%.
my mate tore the ligaments in his ankle while we were winching, sessioning a waste high rail in just above ankle high water at the beach. he's been out for the last 2 months too. bumming. _________________ the tap - crailtap.com

if you actually tear ligaments, you might want to get those repaired. I tore a ligament skating a number of years ago (though I didn't know it at the time). It was sore for quite awhile and they didn't find it until they went in to remove some dead bone in my ankle. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

I've had my both knee ligaments tored apart from wakeskating... had surgery on both, have 2 screws in each!!! And it was not from the same crash. Fisrtly I did it on my rigth kneee, and then on the left one, after a year ridin'. It sucks... but I would have surgery _________________ CONCAVE co.

| oh yaeh i just assumed your ligament was torn, if its not completely torn stay off it and let it heal on its own. if its torn it will never heal itself and your knee will never be stable unless you operate on it. |

| i have never wakeskated the same since i did the splits. i think its one of the worst common injuries next to putting ur arm through the handle. i used to be fearless and tried anything and everything. now i never feel 100% and it shows in my riding. i'm going to get the operation on my ligament right after the Tige' pro-am in November because its just not worth it. it only gets worse. |
