Let me guess you go to michigan Tech and your building board and stuff in a class there? Wink

just call up skateboard companies and ask them to spill there secrets. They love to give them away. really. Rolling Eyes

If that doesnt work i suggest spending a few thousand dollars and a couple years trial and erroring like the rest of us out there. It works like a charm.

The Upper Penn is one of the veneer capitols of the world. start there.

There are plenty of threads about building wood skates on here.

My advice:
Build a good 3-stage mold.
Get the right glue.
Be very careful how much pressure you use in your mold.
For Concave...find a good CNC operator and spend the time to create your own CNC program.

If you want to do it the old fashion way.....then there is only one person to contact: http://www.beachwoodmasters.com/subpage3.html This dude is out of Verginia, and I have ridden with him a bunch of times. Super good guy, and the best there is with building custom wood wakeskates. He has like 3 different bi-level designs that are extremely interesting as well as super sick concave decks. I am just glad that he remains old fashioned and isn't mass producing his decks. his decks are expensive but worth adding to any collection.

And post some pics of the composite deck you made.

paul schmidtt actually helped out with some sort of class where kids could design, build and ride their own skateboard designs. i'm sure he's not spilling trade secrets, but that'd be such a cool experience.

and I've heard of houghton...I think I've snowmobiled up there before. is that where michigan tech is? I had a friend who went to school there and now he test drives cars. sweet gig, for sure...
