For me, that is the most amazing thing I've ever seen. Travis pastrana can make any thing with wheels go faster and better than it should. _________________ Back from the dead |

It could even get some big ticket "corperate america" type companies to look at the sport, which could give wakeskating some big money and some big exposure, which will in turn raise the level of competition even more. |
I don't see the logic in that. What sudden increase in the level of competition can be correlated to a little exposure from the X games or corporate sponsors? _________________ √ |

more people see the sport, more want to try the sport, more people try the sport, you more people become really good at the sport, in order to make it, you have to be better than everyone else involved in the sport, and if x amount of people start wakeskating, you have to be better than all the people who were here before x games and all the people who started b/c off the x games.
When more people try to attain the same goal (being the best at whatever), you have to work that extra bit harder and have that extra trick in your bag that noone else can do, and when everyone continually tries to one up everybody else, the level of competition and difficulty increase.
Am I making any sense here? _________________ Back from the dead |

Laxative288, I can see that kind of working in something like dirtbiking (or whatever you want me to call it), where the sport seems to be basically 30 variations of the same trick (backflip), but wakeskating to me is more of an art form with very little definition of what it has to be. It can be taken in several different ways and in order to be very competitive it would almost have to be everyone working towards the same or similar goals. It doesn't make sense to me for wakeskating.
RUSSIAN, EXACTLY.
Except for me and Reed Hansen, who happen to be arch-nemesi.

I can see exactly where youre coming from on everything, but the dirtbiking.
What you see on tv is 99% of the time "freestyle motocross" or fmx, in fmx the objective is to do tricks.
Motocross or "regular dirtbiking" Is where they have a a course set up with many different types of jumps, whoops etc, and everyone tries to navigate the course as quickly as possible.
it seems to me, that everyone is going to have to agree to disagree. I guess we'll just wait it out and see how exposure/popularity affects wakeskating. _________________ Back from the dead |
