Currently i am brainstorming for ideas to make some kicktails and maybe some concave for my k39. I am probably getting a new skate in july so experimenting with this thing is all okay Very Happy . First i was thinking just making some regular wood concave shape kicktails and concave using carved solid wood. Then i realized that i can do pretty much anything with it because truly i don't care about what happens, and so i started trying to think of something a little more on the "what if..." side. What i came up with is making what i want to call a half-bi. I want to have separate raised boards to make kicktails that will be supported by wedges. not through the length of the kicktail, but halfway, if not further through. This idea could be completely stupid and could completely ruin the purpose of bileveled kicktails. But none the less, i am not here for a physics lesson, or flaming. I just want to know if you guys think this is a decent experiment or if you have any other ideas. Or perhapd if you think i should just go with standard wood concave-style kicktails. Thanks guys Very Happy

- Evan

Slapdown I feel the same way about my k39 and have thought about drilling a skate deck to the top for fun to see what it would be like.

freerider4, It probably wouldn't do much, the skateboard deck would be too small to generate enough power to pop the skate. But i know that the guy from Arsenal wakeskates makes a bi made with a skate deck. I am not certain whether or not he is selling them but you might want to give him a holler.

Slapdown yeah I didn't think it would give it much more pop. It was more something to do just to do it.

freerider4, yeah i get what you mean now sounds fun maybe i'll even try it Very Happy

tahoe, that may be. who knows. i know i am going to do something to it. I just love experimenting like this haha. Anyhow, taking the foam off and gripping it makes it a hell of a lot lighter, i did that so maybe with the added kicktails and concave it will just be back to it's original weight.

The half-wedge idea is a pretty good one. The decks won't flex as much as a true bi-level deck would but I think for a half-bi you'd get half pop. Fair enough? hah

Slyder, haha yeah. i just drew out the kicktails on the plywood. It's really shiznackle, i think i am gonna end up either using two layers or better plywood, i also drew out the wedges. all i need to do is cut, attach, paint, and seal... i think.

I am going to attach them using gorrila glue first, then i will screw the wedges to the board and the kicktails to the wedges. then i will smooth out the gap from the kicktail with some kind of sturdy, shapeable glue-type-stuff haha. then seal it all and regrip it.

hsould be interesting Very Happy

How about you make the blocks in a "V" shape to push the water out the sides instead of straight into your seams.

Haha, sweet art. (Picture it as the top deck not being on, and the "<" and ">" as your blocks, sort of, hah)If that doesn't make sense i'll draw it up in paint for you.
