Something with an up rail, if you use barrels put the rail horizontal to the barrels, if you dont it will just roll over. Take your time, rushing only makes for crap, trust me. If you have access to a floating dock that is THE best cause you can change things up down the road without to major of a hassle. Use screws

Ride_2_Relax, ill have some pictures tomoro of the rail i built...i'd say its about 16-20 inches out of the water and its a flatbar (12x2) thats about 10 feet long. We used a 5 foot 2x6 as an up rail so its effortless to get on adn really easy to ride.
The way we made it is we used my friends water pump and floated it on a canoe. We got that thing going (the end hte water was coming out of was about 2 inches wide) and we just blew sand out of the way and sunk some 9 foot 4x3 posts about 4 to 5 feet into the lake bottom. This was really easy, definatly the way to go if you have access to a water pump.
After we sunk the posts we started screwing the rail into the posts, simple as that. We used 3 posts and the thing is rock solid. I'll have some pictures up tommorrow. Hope that helped. Very Happy
