i told a few folks about integrity and how they and gator or the 2 wb manufactures that are not owned by kent, their response was BS, give us some facts

I heard about kent in this forum, so I just thought there might be some real data other than just hearsay.

No, I actually think it's totally true. Nobody I've spoken to has ever denied it, and if you go back and read the press releases from when LF and Free motion were purchsed from earth and ocean, there's a really interesting quote in one of them...

Try looking up something called "Motion water sports" and see if you can find anything. Maybe that has since changed...

In the end, just remember that no matter how much people hate these "larger companies", they all have their place and wakeskating has benefitted from them in more ways than one. I mean, I as much as just about anyone else would love to see aaron and danny still riding a cassette, but that's just not happening. I'm happy that SOMEONE out there is able to keep them on a board and is allowing them to push wakeskating, because aaron in particular is doing some great things with his riding and his involvement in general. At this point, there's just no way that the smaller companies in wakeskating can support the whole industry on their shoulders.

I used to be really pissy about this whole subject, but I'm over it and I refuse to be bitter. Point blank, there's a board out there for everyone, whether it's a Liquid force or a Sattelyte. I know where I want to spend my money, and my advice is to ride what you have fun on and what's comfortable to you, because the feeling of that board is a huge part of wakeskating. If you care later, you care later, if you don't, you don't--at least you're wakeskating, and some talented riders have come up on some "less than popular" brands. Company Politics aren't for everyone and they sure as hell are a good way to taint something that can otherwise be so good.

Thanks for the response. And for the record, I agree with almost everything you stated.
I guess I still don't have any empirical evidence verifying these accusations.
I never heard anything on this topic until posting on WS.com. Now with all these claims, I would have figured somebody has some real data.

I will do some more research, but if your defense rested on hearsay, you would be going to jail ( not you in particular).

Frankly, I will buy and do what I want when I want because that is the true essence of independence.

So after all this, there is still no formal documentation either verifying or denying these claims?

I don't know...would it look good if bob archer put out a press release stating he invested in/owned like five companies (if not more, because that was off of the top of my head)?

And I think there's an active thread on wakeworld.com about this, so it's definitely not limited to the wakeskating forums.

what would look good is something real, so far nothing of substance has been provided,

I could really care less if Bob owns every company in the wake industry or not, if I see a deck I like I will buy it. I just think it's cr@p that people spend all this time on Kent and can't verify one thing.

People come to a forum to discuss ideas, products, lifestyle and the such. When claims can't be verified such as this, it raises the crediblilty issue further.

Bob Archer is the owner of kent sports and a huge investor in most of the companies. Im sure if you get to meet Jimmy Redmond and Tony Finn they will tell you they are the owners of Liquid Force, because why would a buisness owner talk about an investor. Herb O'Brien who owned HO/Hyperlite has now left that company and started a new company, but does that necessarilly mean he is still not involved with Jobe/J Star? In the press release about there new company it states that the company will be owned partially by the employee's, so does that make it a rider owned company?

I think it all runs a bit deeper than hearsay on an internet forum. I also think the people that know the full story regarding it would not be inclined to tell you and get into company politics just so you can be right to your little friends.

the board sect was not named yet, but I thought the parent company was going to be called "square one." it's slated to be unveiled at the surf expo this fall. And those points are perfect...I wonder how people will react to the whole "employee ownership" deal they want to have going on.

Also, I don't think tony would say he owns LF because right after LF got their "second chance" he stated that he wouldn't want to "own" a company (or whatever) because it's risky and he likes the life he has (you know, he has a family and what not). Hopefully that made sense and I'm not making him look like a dick.

Anyway jaque (mehoff), I totally understand what you mean and I've tried to find more information myself. I never really questioned this stuff because when it was all happening, I was talking to people who were in the position to know because they were directly affected or what have you. I was leery once other companies were added, like CWB (partial ownership or something) because I kind of stopped paying attention at that point. Anyway, I just don't know enough about this sort of investment, and how public it has to be and things like that. It's weird though, because when burton or quiksilver buys something up, you hear about it.
