|
|
Just got done building my first rail. It's 15' foot long with a 2-1/2' ride up and a little bit more than a 1-1/2' wide. I can't wait to get this thing into the water this weekend! It will be only my 3 time hitting a rail.

revolutionconcepts, - Yeah it is going to sit in about 3-1/2' of water. The rail is 4-1/2" high to the top.
marshk344, - It cost me $210.00 to build and took me about 3 hours.

it looks like the long part is slanting up and the small part is flat... if you look at it right...

The top is made of that composite decking material. That was what cost the most on the whole rail. It was about $25.00 each and I had to buy 6 of them to cover the top. You can buy it at Home Depot

i think im gonna try to do the exact same deal, but use plywood instead of the composite decking and then put a layer of HDPE, bathroom paneling, FRP, etc etc some kind of 1/8-1/4" plastic sheeting over it.

Norcalz71, I am not sure about the HDPE or the Bathroom Paneling because I have never used it but don't use the FRP! I built a kicker last year and used FRP and for some reason when it gets wet your board sticks to it. If you don't have the money for the composite decking I would just use plain old decking and wet it. It also helps if you put a little gas on it and then wet it. But it all depends on how fast you want it to slide.

you're talking about tileboard right? it's got a cardboard like bottom? i bought some of that(if we're talking about the same thing) to put on my rail and i decided not to since i thought the bottom would soak up water and eventually fall apart.
