Hopefully I'll be throwing a indoor winch comp in september. Its going to be in a indoor wave pool and you'll be winching head on into the waves for a best trick comp.... |

tampa jimmie... i was wondering if you would interested in organizing a comp here... i think (not possitive) that they would let us have a comp there if it brought alot of publicity to the pool... but we would have to rent out the whole pool... sometimes swim teams rent it out for swim meets... i was thinkin maybe the sponsors would pay for the pool... they would prolly make you sign all kinds of wavers though to keep the pool from being damaged... just let me know what you think _________________ Nothin better than Wakeskating and Motocross!

TheLeprechaun, what does it cost to rent the pool out for, by the hour, or day? _________________ integrity-wake.com | chriscut.com |

If your boss or whoever is worried about the exhaust issue, buy a box of 4" foil flex from home depot, you can stretch it out up to 25 feet to vent it outside.. that's what they did at that indoor pool setup in Utah I was at.. _________________ ------------------------------------------------------

exhaust isnt an issue... we can open the large garage doors at the sides of the pool... im not sure exactly how much it costs but you can rent it as long as you want... ill figure the prices out tomorrow... _________________ Nothin better than Wakeskating and Motocross!

well hurry the crap up and talk to bossman, cause you know once we get the winch perfect we are going to want to "test" it there if we have permission or not _________________ florida+waves=gay

To be honest I'm surprised someone hasn't built an electric winch yet. It would have MAD torque, although I'm not sure how much electric motors are. Could you use a laundry machine motor...?
I wonder if you hooked two car batteries up in parallel if it would last long enough for a couple hours. You'd need some sort of ratcheting type clutch on it still so you can unwind the rope, but it could be similar to a bike hub where it freewheels one way and locks the other. And it wouldn't consume electricity while its not pulling someone unlike a gas engine... hmmmm
Anyone tried this?
With all that said, electricity and water don't really play well together. |
