I think this site needs both sides to survive somewhere inbetween my wakeskating Nazi'sm and E-snow's phylosophy there's a happy medium in which we have all come to know as ws.com
-Yeah, I started that last post way before Pirate got a chance to post this one... just took me forever to write what was on my mind. But he basically said what I was trying to get across here.

Scott a (I've thought this but I don't know if I've said it), I think you should contribute some board reviews because I know you've ridden more than an integrity (because you've mentioned it, and have been made fun of on another site (wink)), and you seem to be open minded. In fact, you're opinionated to the point to where you scare me, yet want ME to grab the kettle corn (I won't use specific examples). However, as far as the board reviews that have been done for this site (by dave), I think he does a good job of being honest with how that thing will ride. In the end, can you EVER tear a product to pieces? Can you ever tell anyone a board broke on its first set out? Not unless you're some crazy hollywood movie critic. The most important thing is finding a constructive balance between the good and the bad (or that's how I see it).

Actually, one thing about the board review (just to play the devil's advocate and illustrate a point): the board review would be the ultimate in free advertising (though, hopefully, the most honest) when someone like you would get a board from a shop or borrow a friend's and test it, with that company having nothing to do with that review. But whatever, that's seriously the way it's going to end up getting done this summer...the most important thing to me is to have some good reviews (with good product shots, showing the rail and edge, details of the concave and base of the board) so people can not only read about something they're interested in, but so they can get a better idea of what they're looking at without leaving their house (instead of the stock base shot or what have you).

And that goes for anyone. The opportunity to submit your own material has always been there. Dave put out a notice for "official" editorial personnell, but you can always write up your own story (with that one sattelytte profile being an example...I think it was from jonesie). Also, wasn't it dragon88 who wrote up that nice review on those oneill boardshorts for wb.com?

Senorbueno, I defended cassette because they're what started this whole mess, starting with that one post from mario (who pirate then said he agreed with). This whole argument is (largely) about what companies post on here, who "really" cares because of that, etc. Love me or hate me, but I will pick my fights wisely and when i do, it's because it's something I really believe in and care about. And with that said, I decided to make the point that they're one of the few who HAVE put in that time to be on here, regardless of what's going on now and who currently decides to participate in this community.

Oh, and my resentment (I almost forgot). They were points brough up by pirate and erich, clearly not some "kids on a message board", but respected individuals on the site. I"m not even going to go any further on the matter of who posts on here and who doesn't because at this point it's a lame way to try and get one up on the next guy. But whatever I cited in that post was not directed at lame kids on a message board, because you'll ALWAYS have antics on a message board. As for the salesmen, those are sponsored/affiliated individuals who can make a choice to stay out of something when they're not going to give an unbiased answer.

Regarding the press releases, I personally think it's a good way to help out people trying to start up some good things. But more imortantly, it's a good way to keep the community informed on current happenings (when we can find them), and maybe let them in on something (like an event) whose coverage may be minimal to nonexistent in a magazine. last year I wished we could have had some hippodrome stuff up because nobody knew what the hell it was. Plus, it's just a badass event because it's another all wakeskate event on the west coast, and they subscribe to a different ideology than the toejam (with an example being that an acid drop from a dock was a mandatory starting method). But the event itself came together too last minute. Anyway, that's just an example and I want to keep this short (er?). I'm pretty sure I've typed as many words in these last two posts, as pirate types on here in an entire year (single sentence posts, rarely more, it's just style).

Oh. As far as mikes' quote goes, I'll say that if you only make wakeskates, you're not in it for the money. HOWEVER, you need money to survive and to continue doing what you do, and to grow/have the money to improve your product line, etc. But anyway, I totally agree with that comment (mike).

Finally, with regards to advertising, I'm working on something big for the spring...it will hopefully be a full sponsorship from linda Rhondstat and we'll be doing massive CD reviews this spring. You ALWAYS need music for the boat, so why not have that music be linda?

Anyway, I feel like I've said more than enough on this topic. If anyone has any serious, personal issues, PM me. I'm not giving scott the satisfaction... Very Happy

I miss GROUCH...this is where he would "politely" tell e-snow this is not a college class. STOP posting over two sentences. Get over yourself. Stop trying to "properly" guide wakeskating. NO more SERMONS. This is not Church.

electricsnow, I'd give you a star on that post if I could... I definitely don't hate you I just thought things were starting to get out of hand (and I definitely have contributed to that, for which I appologize) and people were looking at things in that some people said the wrong way.

Senorbueno, I'd say that at times, most of us (which includes me, because I can get hella heated) contribute to the drama.

LOW, I'm not making you read my posts, so don't tell me what and how to write. Thank you.

HaHa are you serious, I must just be higher than a kite then.....make me a list sir of these selfless companies...I would loveee to see this. So your saying that there are companies with the sole purpose of furthering the sport with no personal gain in mind. ( I am refering to money) Tell me what you think sir. -mike

Who in the industry follows a selfless utopian ideology in which they create a product or service with no personal gain in mind?

what i meant when i started all this shizzle(and pirate was the only one MAN enough to back me) , was i appreciate whn people such as and not limited to, riders like lemons, nicky t., schmaltz, the distortion crew, sattelyte crew, omen crew, and any others high on the wakeskate food chain, come to this site and post stuff. whether it's info on products, car drifting game challenges, and random shooting the shizzle. they are not here to specifically sell their companys goods to every unsuspecting noob, they are just stoked on the whole "being part of the wakeskate community" vibe. you really get a feel for how these guys really are, in real life. even yhough this is the artificial fantasy world known as the internet.
i'm sure noone will understand any of this either, i just felt like exercising my finger and my awesome writing/typing skillz. Cool

I think people get a little too nostalgic with regards to Cassette, they have paid dues pushed the sport and broken boundaries. . .they are to wakeskating what mutiny, or wake tech was to wakeboarding . . . but as Janet Jackson would say. . .what have they done for ANYONE lately. . . . lets recap the last few years shall we. . no product. . . .pushing half developed CRAP as revolutionary. . . no adherance to the minimum maxims of any responsible buisness. . seems pretty accurate recreation no?

You cant rest on your laurels forever and you cant just play ostritch with a bad product cassette has done that for 2 years now, and I hope to god were not headed for year number 3,. . . .but I cannot and will not support a company, (no matter how much I USED to respect them) that via there actions seems to be telling the consumer they somehow dont owe them the minimum amount of respect ANY good buisness gives there customers. . . .explain to me how a lack of product for a whole year. . .a defective product line. . .and tons of customers left with no recompense for making the mistake of purchasing said products is in any way "progressing our sport"

By blindly supporting companies that do this your telling them its ok, and I dont think it is ok at all, and I could give a good god damn who the owner of that company is

love it or hate it thats my opinion, and I dont think alot of people disagee. . . . .but I could be wrong

im pretty sure that designing an enitrely new wakeskate concept...the bi level... is progressing the sport. sure some of them broke but it was the first year they had been made, chances are they're gonna be a hell of a lot better this year b/c they can correct the problems from last year. and the year with no product line, thomas wasnt happy with the quality of what the manufacturers produced so he didnt put them out
