have you heard about this yet?

February 17, 2006 will go down in history as Texas's FIRST ever road course drifting event at Grand Sport Speedway by Texas Slide and Houston240sx.com.

Where?
Grand Sport Speedway is a 1.7 Mile freshly renovated Road Course located near Hitchcock, Texas, and very close to Gulf Greyhound Park for those wishing to earn a license at the Formula Drift Qualifier on Feb the 18th at GGP. We will be using the Brittany Circuit, Overhead veiw of Grand Sport Speedway's Brittany Circuit can be seen by clicking here.

We will run the track one direction in the morning, and switch directions in the afternoon. We will be using run groups, which will run in 10 minute sessions, non stop from the moment the course goes hot until a 30 minute staff lunch break, until the end of the day or until our goal, everyone runs out of tires.

DIRECTIONS TO THE TRACK
From downtown Houston head south on I-45 towards Galveston. Exit to your west (right) on exit 15, continue strait across the light and take the next exit on your right onto state Rd 2004 that runs parallel to the dog track. Continue down 2004 for about 3 miles right through Hitchcock, Tx until you see four large concrete pillars on you left. The track is right beside these pillars. Turn left onto the small gravel road past blimpbase Rd and go a few hundred yards through the gate. You are now on the new site of Grand Sport Speedway.

Track Address is:
GrandSport Speedway
5402 Highway 6
Hitchcock, TX 77563

Caught testing earlier this year at Germany's Nurburgring is this prototype of what is assumed to be the next version of the Skyline GT-R. Obviously based on the car we know as the Infiniti G35 Coupe in America, Nissan has promised that this next car is coming to the States most likely wearing the name "Infiniti GT-R." The final production version will likely be shown at the 2007 Tokyo motor show. It should go on sale next year as a 2008 model.

what do you drive soy escuala????

skylines are sick....

AWD is made for grip. and i've heard rumors of quad turbos ect.... they are fast and crazy and all and deserve to be on top but, not really my style.

i perfer lower end RWD models from 86-94ish. something light, under powerd and built horribly. it makes the perfect drift car. my style is just drifting.

i've seen an old rx7 get down on a track.. i couldn't believe it...

doesn't the number 1 drifting driver from japan drives a toyota (lexus) gs 430 Shocked who'd a thunk it.

if you get netflix, there is a best motoring video from japan that has all sorts of racing some w/ just japanese stuff like silvia's, a smokin nsx... some w/ skyline's vs porsche 911 turbo Cool some good drifting footage..

pretty cool to watch, me personally fastest i can get around the track... seems like forever since i drove a track day and even longer since i rode a sportbike.. i miss my cbr every time i see someone rage'in on a sportbike... the wife has put a big X on me ever getting another street bike... gotta get my old dirt bike back in one piece..

BTW-

Nissan's original plan to do a V-8 has been axed because the engine is too big and heavy to provide the dynamic balance the engineers want. The V-6 will reputedly produce 450 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque. The power will be sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed transmission. Nissan is apparently aiming for a 0-to-60-mph time of 3.8 seconds, with a top speed north of 180 mph.

actually the RX-7 is a grip car made for track not drift. you have to do alot of work to an RX7 to get it to drift as good as a stock 240. plus rotary engines arnt the best thing for drifting, they burn too hott and break easy. im actually thinking of getting an FC down here, (2nd gen rx7) for 400 bucks, it has a blown motor. which i would if anything replace with an SR20DET. (nissan silvia motor) and build an SRX7 which is rare. it'll basicly be an S13 silvia, with an FC3S body.

warlock, i only know of one japanese driver drifting a toyota soarer (lexus sc 400 in us) they come with n/a supra engines!! Shocked

other then that i know one guy is drifting an altezza (is300).

warlock, you used to road race?

i used to go w/ a team of bike racers to some events... and i bought a race ready cbr and we stripped it and rebuilt the entire bike w/ teh exception of the bottom end.

as for cars i go to some track days w/ a few friends that race one has two cars he ended up w/ and will not drive because they are front wheel. he races his vipers.. i race his shelby daytonas Laughing they have full roll cages, fire supression, fuel cells.. my best friend, and godfather to my little girl is a porsche driving instructer.. so i ride w/ him and he has asked me to drive in some events w/... i haven't raced his porsche yet.. i'm not used to the wicked rear end instability it has.. not until the 993 did that problem get resolved... it would just take a lot of driving it.. and i can hop in a front wheel and rip... thanks to a jetta vr6 i had for a while.. boy i miss that little thing too.. so fun!!!!!!!! other than that... evertyhing was illegal... and i wish i never had done any of it now that i look back... i shouldn't be here.

warlock, yea, me either.. i drift every day. on narrow roads with no sholdiers and steep ditches on each side, infact i almost flew off the road and into the woods just now. i like real street ditches, and coming really close to things. it's kinda crazy.

satori*, i'll trade you the elise for my soul.
