i think that the bottom graphic may be an homage to melissa's first skate due to the fact that there are also trucks on the board (hence making it a look more like the bottom of a skateboard than of a graphic). the original graphic came out in the 80s. melissa was born in the early 80s.

i dunno. the dates sorta line up, and i know melissa skates so i guess its possible? i highly doubt LF was trying to pass those graphics off as original.

No offense, but I think you guys are off the mark on this one. no one is ripping off design; rather, LF is paying Homage to a classic old-school skate design.

Burton snowboards did it one year where they made the Jim Rippey pro-model graphic similar to the famous Natas Kaupas panther graphic (see below).

Snowboarder Travis Parker did the same thing when he copied Chad muska's famous design (see below).

I would have done the same thing.... My first skate deck was the Vision Phycho stick. I would love to pay homage to that classic design.

Its not what you guys think.....

in 2004.... Melissa was the only womens rider on the LF team that wakeskated and was getting some exposure for it.... that Air Nautuique ad for example...

I think LF thought that it would be a good idea to take a skate and put a pro womens riders name on it to give girls that ride a board they might want to ride....

its just like how we want to ride what our favorite pro's ride.... chicks that skate look up to chicks that skate (megan, melissa, stef etc.) .... so LF was just trying to appeal to what girls want!...

even im considering riding that Maven/Melissa Control Skate... pink is so punk Laughing
