This has been discussed before, but it's not like cassette took the bi-level concept from the snow and said, "yay! it's TOTALLY going to work!" That was the beginning, but a certain amount of credit should be given because they were able to adapt a certain concept to a different medium with different mechanics. The last I saw, snowskates don't depend on the flex of the top deck. And I reckon early designs had stock risers and now they're "advancing" to a pivot design of sorts...and depending on the deck, I guess that's to aid in control when "jibbing the life out of your shred stick." After that, I'm not sure if that's supposed to help your ollies or what. I'm not really that into snowskating.
Anyway, look around these industries and you'll see that it's all about borrowed ideas. One (including myself, and i already have) has to let the idea go that no other company can make a bi-level. However, there's a difference between adopting a concept for the better and just straight up piggybacking and doing nothing on your own. I hate the idea of some gigantic company undercutting the creative forces behind wakeskating...that's what really gets me down.
and seriously, some of this inspiration comes from friends riding with friends. Like, one dude has a new closed toe prototype boot and his friend is like "schweet" and they go back to their company and make something as well.
And if you pay attention, you can see that some of these ideas tend to cycle...closed toe boots, reshapable rails, various "rail insert systems", variable edge designs, "rail bases", built in cants, and concave top decks. (which, I just learned were originally incorporated in the original rusty line up of wakeboards from 1996. someone else would have to confirm it, but according to the specs, the decks were concave. you know, hyperlite uses some concave tops now...and double up might have done that awhile back as well.) _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

as far as bi-levs go it was cassette that take the risk, thats all i see, and good for them but for a company to make two deck idea of their own is not infringement. however the obrien is ridiculous.
from the "rumors" i have heard, the Lf bilev is a sick board but like slue said thats form Lf riders, but still. i have also heard that it doesnt last long so it wont be out this year or at least not till late 06. |

Is it true or not that thomas is finacially supported by LF? i could be way wrong, just thought that i heard that a long time ago
what a concept " test it BEFORE it comes out. wwwhheewwww."
Ive had a burton snow skate since they first came out back before the pivot bindings and the weird foam grip. Theyve changed quite a bit and IMO they still suck. _________________ Never, never, never, never give up

This was true for a season or 2, years ago. LF saved Cassette for the most part but after the new investors took over LF, Cassette Went back on its own. |

| back when i started snowskating(first year they came out/pumped) i always wanted a bilevel skate. i just think its rad that people in the wake industry take notice of other sports. only the smart ones do. if snow melts does that defeat a patent? some lawyer dude was trying to tell me snow, h20 has some wierd lupeholls in court. is that true? |

I love it when people post stuff thinking they actually know something, then the right person comes along and just lays down the facts. |

if for no other reason watch it so fuel will see that even the repeated showings of the program are getting viewership. if nobody watches the program then they wont fund it and it will die.
