I dont think so either, seeing as how there is already a bunch of "established" companies. All I think right now is "You missed the boat dude".

no they wont do that. If they did they will throw money into a company that is not doing so hot and bring them back up. I think they did that to Line skis. Could be wrong tho

I doubt they'll do any good if they do enter it...but they may be thinking that by creating a line of wakeboards with their name on it, they'll be able to market wakeboards to snowboarders who don't know a lot about wakeboaring. They might be thinking that they're only covering a certain percentage of the year sports gear wise...snowboarding generally only exists during the winter months and by creating a wakeboard line, they might be able to attract people who are faithful to Burton to buy their wakeboards and try wakeboarding during the summer months, thus being able to market products nearly year round.
Just my 2 cents.

| ZoSo, Really good point, I agree. If they were to put together a decent wake team, they could market it as an off-season dealie. As long as the product is good I'm all for it, just another company to push progression in board design. (Bi-Level inspiration can recieve some credit from companies like them that had a product first) The only problem is that it would suck having another huge company in the sport.

In one of their (Burton's) catalogs way back they talked up the fact that they stuck to just making snowboards and snowboard gear, no wakeboards, skateboards, rollerblades or skis.

el, at our burton clinic, they still stuck to that same pitch. It's really funny, it's how so called 'core snowboard companies" diferentiate themselves from the others.
At any rate, I highly HIGHLY doubt burton would get into the wake industry. They pride themselves on making good snowboards. that's it.
but, if you want men's pants that look like girls pants and cost as much (like over 100 dollars) keep your eyes peeled for the metro sexual analog street line that will be raging in you local shop this spring.

All I can say is Burton has their marketing down to a T. This kid was looking at snowboarding stuff and on burton's website, and it was the only thing he would look at.
Then he told me that I couldn't deny Burton's "tyteness" so I agreed and let him go on his way purchasing everything that burton recomended him, even the outerwear... I'm not even kidding.

dragon, do you work at a shop too?
you're right about their marketing. I've had people come in only wanting burton, and wanting the wrong board even though it was a burton (like a beginner wanting to special order a ross powers board). Also, I guess burton designed some of their stuff with the idea of "packages" in mind (no not those you freaking perverts). So on our tent sale weekend, they came in and set up these packages and displayed them on the wall (ex: burton blunt, cartells (white and green), and the hail boots (white and green). And then one day, this girl came in and said "I want that", even though it was a men's boot. Point blank, she got it all, minus the boot. She bought the women's version of the hail...but it still matched!!! OMG!!! LOL!!! OOOOOOMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!
In all honesty, I think burton makes some good boards. However, there are a lot of brands that are worthy of consideration. Construction wise, Ride's core constructions really impress me. Rome also is onto some really, really good stuff.
Integrity640, I couldn't really tell you about the "destructive" look or not when it comes to analog's new line. I'll tell you that I personall have purchased pants with holes in my jeans, but I draw the line when a) the come from abercrombie and b) they have paint stains on them.

Esnow I wish that would be sweeeeet!!!
I was just in the school library and was witnessing the snowboard Burton snowjockery. I don't know just something about snowboarding these days... Just whole sheep mentality it's taken on you know? It's like back in the day ( way way before I was ssshredding) it was all about expression and love. (Read: Creativity, Originality.) Now it's all about pro models and cool looking outerwear...(Read: Cool and X-treem factor.) I don't really know if I'm entitled to be talking like this because I've only been riding for 9 or so seasons now, but it has always been about the love. (My first board was a Bumdeep?? it had a rose on the topsheet. Now if that's not KEWL I dont know what is. 99% sure that it's a girls board...)
It's like on one end I hate how popular snowboarding has become (even since I've been riding it's blown up. I remember getting made fun of by skiiers when I started like 3rd grade or so...) and how everyone is like yeah I snowboard. bla bla bla. But then you go up to the mountain and they're chilling inside the smelly lodge all day...
But on the other hand I like how they're putting money into the sport, keeping the lodges open and the board companies innovating, they're almost donating to the sport if you will...
Anyways rants aside, I've never really ridden Burton enough to give an honest opinion about them, but I do know that a lot of people who know nothing about snowboarding get blinded by their awe. If you will... Then these kids kinda take it upon themselves to teach all of "us" about how neat and amazing Burton is...
Not actually sure if that made any sense, but the spark notes: I wish I could work at a snowboard shop and also hope that we have some good snow and lots of kids with shiny new boards to keep the board racks outside the resorts snow free.
I see snowboarding impolding maybe in the next 10 years, however, and going back to it's roots when something more x-treeeme comes out...
