Here is a video of a few kickflip attempts:

http://www.wakeskating.com/media/showphoto.php?photo=2039&cat=500&ppuser=743

I'm just starting to try kickflips on a wakeskate. So far i feel like i need to work on getting my ollie pop higher, and also work on a faster rotation. I ride with my back foot's toes slightly over the toeside edge and my front foot 5 inches above the center of my board, with the heel hanging off the board.

does anyone have any tips that might help me out?

Yo Chris, it looks like your flicking like a varial flip. I think it would help if you didn't flick your foot out sidewayz so far, I flick more in a downward motion after I pop her. You are looking real close though. Focus on pop, flick, catch(HAMPSON) and land on top of the board everytime, she'll come around. Razz

Yea it looks like you are not initiating the ollie correctly. Instead of flicking it up from the get go, pop it up more straight up, then kick down and away. Also, Try not hanging your front heel off at all...just put your front foot more in the position of a regular ollie, pop it straight up (no flick, but pop). Im not sure if this makes sence but I just started doing kick flips and keeping my front foot in the regular position has helped me alot. It definitely looks like your close, you almost got it. Wink

Chris Barcellos, Don't hang your back toes over the edge, have your back heel on the edge, but not over it.

ATXwakesk8r, I do have a habit of kicking out. I'm trying to teach myself to forget about skateboarding kickflips.

Chris Barcellos, all my skateboarder friends do the same thing, they got pissed when i landed a k-flip on the water before they did, but i dont have their bad habit. if you have decent switch ollies, try a switch k-flip, you might suprise yourself...

That doesnt sound right. I dont want to forget about skateboarding kickflips.. I just want my mind to consider wakeskate kick flips an entirely different trick so that I dont copy the flick from land onto water.

I didnt get to wakeskate this weekend, but hopefully I will on thursday morning. I wont be able to get pics or vids but i'll post here how it goes with all of your suggestions. Very Happy thanks again

ive come closer to switch flips than regular ones cuz when you flick it with ur usual back foot, you kick it straight down for some reason and the board flips right around

i'm getting closer Twisted Evil Yesterday behind russians boat i tried it once, I clipped the board with my foot when it was 75% flipped.. it was right under me so i wonder how close it would have been if it completed its rotation. Hopefully its not too windy today out at the lake.

cenflskate, what if you can do switch flips consistantly on a skateboard? then you would still have the same problem, right?
